Hey All,
I'm getting lazy, I can't be bothered turning on my older laptop everytime I want to read/write a chip!
With the willem programmer they have dual power with usb & LPT(but I think they only use usb for power & still need LPT for programming? is this right?).
& then there's the true usb willem programmer my guess is these are the pupppies if you want et to transfer through the usb cable is this correct, or can both them do it? as the true usb is double the price!

Re: Willems true USB Or dual power?
i have only ever used mine with the lpt connected but i was of the opinion that is what it uses for programming and the usb was just for power.
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

True USB is what you want. There is more electronics in them, hence the higher price. The ones with both do use usb for power only.

Re: Willems true USB Or dual power?
Thanks for that guys!
The True USB, I'm pretty sure will only do USB & does it in around a tenth of the time!(Not positive but pretty sure on both these!).

Re: Willems true USB Or dual power?
I have had both the Dual Power and the True USB (GQ-3X).
Yes the DP only uses USB for power, still requires the LPT port for programming. It also requires jumpers and dip switches to be changed between different chips and reading to writing.
True USB does not require dip switch or jumper changes. It works very well, worth the extra money.
