Changing injectors from stock 11p to Siemens Deka 60lb

Post by h4x0r »

I got my first ever 11p running fine on a stock 304 with a 424. Now I replaced the injectors to Siemens Deka 60lb
I've read the newbie guide first step was to edit "Run A/F Param - Displacement/inj flow rate (Litres/Grams per sec) using the Ultimate Kinjflow Calculator to 0.041

Car would not start with just this setting

So then I edit both Crank Base Pulse Width vs Coolant Temp tables by dividing all values by 3.03

How do I calculate the Injector opening times vs Battery Voltage table when this is the data sheet for my injector?:

Specifications:
Coil Resistance: 12.5 Ohms / High Impedance / High-Z (No ECM driver modifications required)
Static Flow Rate @ 43.5PSI ( 300kPa ) w/Petrol: 60 lb/hr = 630 cc/min = 453 g/min
Static Flow Rate @ 87PSI ( 600kPa ) w/Petrol: 85.7 lb/hr = 900 cc/min = 648 g/min
Gain: 0.11ms/mg
Offset: 0.055ms
Turn on time @ 14VDC: 1.14ms
Turn off time: 0.85ms @ 600KPa
Connector: Bosch EV1
Series: DEKA 4 ( DEKA IV )
Orifice Type: Multi-orifice
Spray Pattern: 30 Degree Spray Cone
Factory fitted with Viton upper and lower o-rings

Equivalent Part Numbers:
Siemens FI114961, 107-961, 107961

Internal Part Number: HP610CH
Brand: Siemens VDO
CC Rating: 610cc
Ohms (Resistance): High
Length (o-ring to o-ring): 65mm - Full Length
Top O-Ring Diameter: 14mm

Your data sheet info doesn't include the bias details. They are available out there somewhere but there seems to be a little trial and error involved anyway.

These are the figures that ended up working well for me (pretty sure I copied them from a thread somewhere here):
Volts - mSec
4.80 - 3.89
6.40 - 3.62 (corrected, was 6.62 which is wrong)
8.00 - 3.11
9.60 - 2.24
11.20 - 1.40
12.80 - 1.01
14.40 - 0.70
16.00 - 0.52
($12P with 0.0427 injector displacement for 0.030" over stock stroke 308)

It runs in single fire mode at idle to get low enough fuel delivery while still covering that turn on time, and even then it wasn't great until these settings were right. Runs well now though.

VK 3800 you are a legend!!!!

I have been chasing my ass for the last month trying to sort out a slight off idle stumble and part throttle cruise miss-surge.

Injector info I had found on the net was completely different to what you have listed here.

I just changed mine to what you have here and all my issues dissapeared :punk: :punk:

Great, I didn't do any of the hard work though, just copied the numbers from somewhere (would post the thread if I could find it).

I see that I fat-fingered the 6.4V number too, it should be 3.62 not 6.62.

Haha yeah, I figured it was a typo.

This has been a huge learning curve to me. Never imagined just changing that setting would make such a difference to how the car runs.

Changed all my running afr so have to now go back through and redo my VE chart but thats easy enough now it's running smooth.
