sounds like interference.... since its getting some data but rejecting others. try turning off your stereo, AC blower, headlights and everything else you can find to turn off, leave the laptop power cable unplugged so its just on battery, then leave engine on reds not running and try again.

So i pulled out a bunch of fuses and it started working fine, placing the fuses back in while it was running found the one that causes the problem.

7.5A fuse labeled
ECC HTR CONT.
INST. TRIP COMP

got a few copies of the bin now :)
Thanks for the help

Since it got part way through, including identifying the car, it can't be the wrong _type_ of cable.

Ok guys, so I'm new to all of this. I've read and researched until I'm blue in the face. I've hit a stand still. Trying to connect to a flash based PCM. I select the find seed/key and a pop up asks me what hex key I want to start counting up from. I have no idea what this means nor can I find any information about this particular pop up box online.

tuners can change the security key to try and lock other people out. normally you just read or write, but if it fails to unlock you can use that try all the keys and recover it to re-gain access to your computer. normally you would not need to use find seed/key at all.
