Looks like the ECU grounds the relay to turn it on so you need to connect power to relay terminal 86 (dosn't make any difference if you are using 85) and the other relay field wire to terminal C1, setup the switching params in the program like I said with your desired temp and it should work fine.

Thanks that's basically what I did then, used C1 (assuming this is the dark blue wire) as a ground for the relay but got nothing from the fan even as it went over 100 degrees. Maybe the pin wire has come loose at the plug, this has already occurred with two other pins. High speed fan is definitely showing as On in Tuner Pro

Not sure on the plug. They are numbered. Try grounding the wire that is going to C1 (I would disconnect it from the ECU plug just in case your got the wrong location) and the fan should turn on. If it does check back in the program and that you have definately got it connected to C1. As I said you must set road speed to 0 and say 80 deg for temp. If the fan dosn't work check the power to the relay then bridge 30 and 87. This will help you diagnose these possiblilites.
1, No power to relay.
2. Faulty relay.
3 Faulty fan or wiring.

Just had a look at all my fan settings and all but 2 are set to 0. The only settings I have is the ones I have mentioned. Road speed 0 and temp 90 degrees. I have the same setup on 2 cars and both work fine.

Thankyou, yes I will ground the wire going to the C1 pin and see what happens.

I finally got the fan working. The fan and aircon relay ran on a different loom to the engine and i didn’t realise that when I pulled th3 loom out of the Camira a couple of years back I had cut the wires to this loom to get it out. I ran a new cable for C1 and connected the relay ground and all good.

Here are a few pics of my electric fan setup in the ute. It is controlled by the ECU and I have set it to turn on at 95 degrees shuts off at 55 kph, the original setting was 99 degrees and 55 kph but this may have been modified by someone else previously. I haven't tested it on the open road yet so will be able to get a feel for things once is starts getting hotter. I got a EL falcon fan from u pullit and cut it in half as I cant fit both fans with this radiator. The bottom of the fan shroud slots nicely into the bottom fold of the radiator and holds in tight, the height is perfect for the valiant radiator and I just purchased a thermo fan install kit for about $10. I drilled a couple of holes in the top of the shroud and pushed the radiator ties through the core and secured them with the supplied clips. Pretty tight fit though and I need to grind down the fan bolts and relieve some of the fan shroud to get clearance. Fortunately I can still pull the fan and radiator out in one piece by just removing the hoses and top bolts and loosening the bottom bolts.

I would set the temp a bit lower like 85 deg. The higher the temp setting the more under bonnet temp. The Valiant would have come with a thermostat around that temp. Higher temps might be OK for a cooling system to work under 20lb pressure.
