Dissembling a VY BCM Plug?

Post by exec24 »

I Just want to know if anyone knows how to correctly dissemble a VY BCM Plug (series 2)

Im currently fitting Power windows into a Base model VY ute(series 2), i was lucky enough a majority of the wiring for the power window switches to the doors, and some of the BCM wiring even seems to be there. I have only had to add one side of the fuse terminals and the power window relay which ive done by unpinning a donor VY sedan harness and plugging in the terminals in there relevant spots.

the only only roadblock ive hit is on BCM Plug Connector 1. there is a yellow wire in Pin 8, which is "power window drive" now my car doesnt have it at all so i managed to remove it from the donor loom, using a sharp blade. i did damaged the donor looms plug doing this but there terminal isnt damaged at all. but cant get it to clip into the plug thats in the car.

i tried unclipping/dissembling another spare BCM plug i have but couldnt seem to do it without destroying it

there is an insert in the plug that i can see, that hold the terminals all in. but it doesnt seem to want the come out, is there a trick to it?

There probably is a locking part somewhere. Look in both ends of the connector for a piece of metal that pulls out from the pin, it probably locks on a flat bit of plastic and needs a solid pin or toothpick to puch it back so it doesnt catch while you pull it through. Im not familiar with the plug your talking about but they generally work like this.

the only locking bit on it i can see is underneath and is the width of the plug, i have tried pulling it up but it only comes up part way.

i'll get a photo soon

you need to lift the plastic strip insert in the middle cross ways of plug & then get a tool to gently bend pin at open open & will pull out.

As VX stated, the two white “doors” are the locks, they need to be lifted to allow pin removal. They can only be completely removed if there are no pins in the plug.

Ok I will try it again tonight on one of my spare BCM plugs, I only need to slide the terminal into the existing plug in the car, it’s already pulled out the donor harness. As I mentioned above.

Hoping to do it this was rather than cut the existing BCM plug off and solder in a complete plug with the wire already in it, that I need. There’s 20 odd wires to solder in if I do it this way
