hey fellas
recently brought an f6 fg cluster to put on an xr6t as a project and apparently only ford can reprogram these clusters again to link to pats correctly and start the car
was reading through here and found a way to get ford ids program working and link it with an openport 2.0 (ive got it all working and reads the car kinda)
my drama is it doesnt seem to pickup the instrument cluster whenever i scan for it, i can pickup the hvac, pcm, tcm etc but i noticed it doesnt pickup the cluster
has anyone found a way to relink the cluster, and if possible adjust the kms to match my old cluster
car is 09 mk1 fg xr6t im reading off, using ids 112.01 software on an openport 2.0 cable
cheers
reading fg clusters
Re: reading fg clusters
Hey Shadowgun,
I have seen this in the past. For some reason the openport is unable to switch effectively between HS can and MS can when working with IDS. The only option is to use a VCM/VCM2. I do this programming within Melbourne. Feel free to PM me for further details and costing.

Re: reading fg clusters
As said above the openport cant do the low speed stuff and will fail. You need a genuine VCM2, about $1k off ebay second hand.
Re: reading fg clusters
GM MDI can be used with older versions of IDS by swapping out the VCM2 dlls with the MDI dlls. MDI happily works at MS CAN (125000) and HS CAN (500000).
Never versions of IDS seem to block using MDI or any other j tool by doing the above method.
Cluster odometer programming will fail unless cluster is new also so bare that in mind.

Re: reading fg clusters
What does an MDI cost?
I just assumed it would be the price of a VCM2

Re: reading fg clusters
Well... a genuine is $1500ish. A good clone is around $300ishrolls wrote:What does an MDI cost?

What will be the newest ids version that will work with mdi.Tazzi wrote:GM MDI can be used with older versions of IDS by swapping out the VCM2 dlls with the MDI dlls.
Re: reading fg clusters
Fairly sure all versions will work with that trick.kur4o wrote:What will be the newest ids version that will work with mdi.Tazzi wrote:GM MDI can be used with older versions of IDS by swapping out the VCM2 dlls with the MDI dlls.
Re: reading fg clusters
Unfortunately not, seems to block/edit something to prevent it.rolls wrote:Fairly sure all versions will work with that trick.kur4o wrote:What will be the newest ids version that will work with mdi.Tazzi wrote:GM MDI can be used with older versions of IDS by swapping out the VCM2 dlls with the MDI dlls.
