So what you're saying is that VZ's can be reset after programming, but the VIN can't be changed?

I got a notification back from an engineer of the VCX Nano I used basically saying that their product can't reprogram used ECUs, are they trying to pull my leg to avoid a return or is there some truth to it? Their reply to my request:

Code: Select all

engineer asked, you re-program second-hand ecu ?
plz watch our programming video, it is online programming, not re-programming .

If your car is second-hand ecu and you want to do re - program, it is normal that fail to do it.
My BS meter is ringing, given the option to re-program is right there in SPS.

So, got the tech2 clone today. Opened up SPS, chose tech2 legacy pass thru, plugged in all the cables and the flash works first time! Car starts up right away. Even got the instrument panel flashed successfully to get all the options back!
I haven't disconnected the battery yet, but the VIN seems to have been changed over as well!
Security functions worked as you'd expect them, requesting security access for every programming function takes its time though! Surprisingly, did not need to relink the ECU to the PIM or BCM despite the new VIN.

That VCX Nano though, what a PITA!

Good to hear you got it going!!

In the last two weeks, SPS has have over a dozen updates (looking at the firmwares) so maybe they are trying to change/fix up vin changes on ecus? Who knows!

If you had already linked the ECU to the PIM, it doesnt need to be done again after SPS :)
