My First Lathe!
Re: My First Lathe!
Nice, a lathe is one of those tools that you can't imagine doing without once you've got one

Very nice. What you think you will do with it now, is just the tip of the iceberg. Once you get your hands on a 4 jaw, a lathe is more handy than you might think.

Good stuff mate. I've got one at my place that came with a single phase motor but its fairly underpowered for turning bigger stuff. I'm a sparky by trade so eventually I'll get around to swapping the motor over for a three phase one.

Must be nice to have 3 phase power in your garage?

Re: My First Lathe!
I only actually got it about 2 years ago. Did a house extension and ended up installing a three phase ducted aircon so had to get three phase onto the house for that. Then I just dug a trench and ran a new circuit to the garage. Only really any good for a lathe/mill/welder or to test three phase motors for workimmortality wrote:Must be nice to have 3 phase power in your garage?

Re: My First Lathe!
I guess you could say this is the first real project with the lathe
Removed the top of a 202 dizzy, and then machined it down to suit this sensor, will probably machine a bit more off the inside of the shaft, then make a chopper wheel to go over the top of it
And yes i plan to wash it too haha!

Re: My First Lathe!
now you just need a milling machine to go with the lathe
