PCM Hammer Release 014

They go by many names, P01, P59, VPW, '0411 etc. Also covering E38 and newer here.

Has the OpenPort worked with any other version of PCM Hammer?

I have heard that the OpenPort supports VPW, but when I asked Tactrix via email I was told that it doesn't.
I just received it. I have not tried on any other versions of PCM Hammer. So far it hasn't worked on ANYTHING VPW. It is breathing on CAN stuff and this is definitely a clone so I won't bring it up again unless it starts breathing. I don't need it, just bought it for testing purposes. I had never heard of it but read a little about it in the Ford thread.

Tactrix does not have VPW, so even though it supports J2534 protocol on the PC side, and thus shows up, it will not work on GM VPW PCMs. I just dusted mine off and gave it a test, with the same results. The debug log shows that the tactrix rejected the request to set VPW protocol.

Code: Select all

Also, from the drewtech tool, despite the protocols listed in the driver title box, see the data in the Device Information field - ISO9141, ISO14230, CAN, ISO15765 only

ISO9131 is K-Line https://weber.instructure.com/courses/1 ... s/iso-9141
ISO14230 is KWP2000 https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#iso:std:iso ... ed-1:v1:en
ISO15765 is CAN https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#iso:std:iso ... ed-3:v1:en

Ive tested AVT 852, J2534 GM MDI, OBDLink SX, OBD XPro interfaces and they are all working well with 014 on my P01.

Cool, thanks Antus. The error messages during J2534 initialization will show up in the Results pane in the very latest code, I just checked that in. It'll be in the next zip release.

J2534 does report back a specific code for when a Protocol is not supported. This can be implemented into the J class and inform the user their tool is not capable of using it.

That's what I checked in a little bit ago. :) It'll be in the next release.

Yes, that was the last test I did before putting the release out. I've flashed my Corvette 3 times with it so far, with no issues.

That's awesome. I just received my spare 0411 and a couple 1mb pcms. I have a 02 flex fuel Sierra with a 0411 that I'm needing to tweak for a new cam. I have read and saved my original bin and now I'm hoping to put my spare PCM in the truck and flash my original to that so I have a backup. What's the best way to go about this with PCM Hammer and the xpro?
