I'll send em back to you Nigel. I'm probably doing soemething wrong which is why I never bothered you with it. I soldered all the sockets prior to fitting the EEPROMs of course and had minimal contat time so hopefully none of the tracks are burnt.

can you pm me your mail addy as I'm actually heading to the GPO now for something else

krusty wrote:Can you read the SST eeprom after writing to it and what does it come up with? I couldn't get any of mine to work ing the base. Out of the base they would work fine for read and write.

If that SST memcal is the one I sent you just throw it in the bin lol.

You will need to use the factory style memcal I sent you the 2nd time
hi andrew, its a new eeprom i grabbed a bunch from nigel. buts its the same(first) memcal.
yep it reads fine, after burning i can read back the bin with willem, save and view i tp no worries. just no start fans on.
that second factory style memcal u sent would need desoldering wont it? id like to not stuff that tune, seems to be working well for me.
ok so the memcal adapters is obviously the problem , as like you i can read write chip, but in base no start.

The SST is socketed so you can gently pry it free of the base without desoldering.

When you make changes ti the tune TP makes a changelog so if you don't like something you've done it enables you to go back and look at what may have gone sour.

I'll pm you the tune later so you can always have a back up and just play with a spare stock style memcal.

ill have a look at them if you send them back, by the sounds of it some of the pins arn't contacting correctly which is why the fan comes on, obviously i cannot take fault for someone else's soldering if bought in kit form, unless the circuit board or adaptor parts are at fault which ill happily replace.

andrew, can i pry this chip out and use the soket without desoldering as it seems to be lifting the socket contacts with the chip.

No! That's the 2nd one I sent you and is not removable without soldering. Just get an adapter to plug it into your memcal reader and read it that way.

I use a 50 pin header from Jaycar and just cut it back or Nigels adapters are very good to use too

KRUSTY Moates ship worldwide & use SST chips do you think there crap too?

I've used The1's chips & adpaters & no probs at all!

I would be advising it may be user error & if there's anything that should be chucked out with you krusty it's not just the SST chips!

You alright Grant?

I already admitted that the fault with the sst unit spratzzvx has is most likely my fault as I supplied it to him and then rectified it with a 27C010. More than happy with Nigels products and wouldn't dream of pointing the finger in the least!

The help from the blokes on here in general is unbelieveable and generous and posts like the one you just made go against that. Not cool
