Re: Connection Issues
I have tried another USB cable, even tried disconnecting the alternator, thinking that i was getting some sort of electrical feed back that the usb didn't understand.

Re: Connection Issues
Can you try it on the torana with your straight 6 cal loaded? Might help to check if its a board or vehicle issue before sending another USB over.

Re: Connection Issues
I have tried it in the Torana, (straight 6 cal)running & stationary, works OK. Only plays up in the blown V6. If it stops raining today, I'll try the setup in his wife's VP V6. I think it is the car, I just don't know where to start looking.
Could it be something in the bin or cal?
Can a sensor give some kind of incorrect feedback?
I have connected to this car previously.

Re: Connection Issues
Some of the after market spark plug leads can generate a lot of RFI (radio frequency interference) which can sometimes get into the data stream and cause havoc.

Re: Connection Issues
After reading this comment, we had a look at the leads &the coil pack was moved from the front inner guard underneath the blower(similar to the original setup) to the firewall 100mm from the loom that goes to the ecu. On further inspection I found that some of the plug leads touch the main loom. Can this give the problem above? If it is a problem, what can I "shield" the loom with? In the mean time we will try to relocate the coil pack away from it's current position.kojab wrote:Some of the after market spark plug leads can generate a lot of RFI (radio frequency interference) which can sometimes get into the data stream and cause havoc.
I also checked the USB cables again, also playing & moving the cables whilst the engine in my Torana was running & no probs.

Re: Connection Issues
try and wrap some foil around the loom and see if it fixes the problem.
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Connection Issues
We moved the coil pack from the firewall & sat it on top of the engine, connected the laptop up, Flash tool, TP5 connected, start engine. It works.
. Now to move the coils back & try shielding the loom. Hopefully it doesn't rain in Sydney tomorrow so we can give this thing a run
(forecast isn't looking good)

Re: Connection Issues
Gday all, also having a connection issue, and after some advice.
Have a usb internal comms board fitted in an 808 and installed drivers as recomended. Opened TP5 loaded adx and xdf files for data logging, with engine/ignition off, when testing the connection in "test for valid interface user settings" in the preferances, says connection is good, but with ingnition on or engine running, message comes up "cable not found or not functioning (tested at 8192 baud)".
Have tried unplugging, restarting and changing the rs232 echo tick box with no luck. when the ingition is turned on the green light ficks on for a sec then off. when pluging usb into the 808 both the red and green light flik on then off.
i appreciate probably somehing simple but is driving me up the wall.
Also is in a VN 355 stroker which has a retuned chip, written on it is vn stage 2 (in pen).
Any assistance would be awsum.

Re: Connection Issues
Can you connect and log at all? Engine on or off. Does the flashtool work, both engine on or off?
If its a VN chip it does not have 8192 baud and you wont be able to log it. But you would get the Tx LED on solid as soon as you key on (Laptop plugged in to the USB to get it powered up) so it sounds like it is not actually a VN program on it.

Re: Connection Issues
Hi, Cheers for the quick responce,
No cannot connect at all, says connecting but doesn't eventuate, i assume takes less than 5 minutes to connect? didn't think to try reading it with flash tool, my understanding was the vn eproms couldn't be read this way, as not flashed based, although when i looked at the chip, didn't seem to have a window on it under the sticker so ur probably right (tried to peel off to see what the lettering on the chip was).i had assumed it was a re-written vn/vp chip. would this mean its a flash based chip? (eeprom?) if so the adx/xdf files i loaded wouldnt be correct, so.. i would need to use flash tool to read chip see what on it then be able to load correct files? Also would this account for why the cable not found message comes up or possibly attributed to something else?
When keyed on only the usb power light stays on, the Tx and Rx light flick on then off. Similar when turning ignition on, and trying to connect, on then off.
If its not a vn program on it, would asusme its code is modified rather than a vt tune or something to be working on the 808. Guess ill read and see. Mates taken off with the car for now, will catchup again in a few days and try Flashtool.
