what do you mean?

there was no ball joint links til VX I think? and they are total different and incompatible with VP and no genuine links or rubbers available from holden for VP, they were supposedly discontinued long time ago, but I'll check with them first as I feel this isn't right.

The aftermarket HD link is better, the metal link itself that is. Just the cup washers and bushes and nyloc nuts are crap in my experience.

the best thing to do is use the aftermarket HD bushed link (not the ball joint one) and fit genuine holden rubbers, washers and metal lock nuts on them and toss the poly urethane ones and leftover bits out.

a while ago i read a book about the development of the VN. apparently the design was changed after they had trouble with roll overs on gravel roads. adapting to the later setup with a rod end wouldn't be hard, would it ?

From memory the ball joint links appeared on VZ except HSV who continued on with the old design.

Oops, you're right, from VX balljoints on lower and VZ (except HSV & Monaro) have balljoints top and bottom.

I am skeptical about he quality though. None of the well known brands make them so that pretty much sums it up for me.

I have some noalthane ones here, and surprisingly they appear to be the most thought out and well designed ones so far. its a real surprise as every thing else noathane I have used in the past except pan hard bar bushes sucked.

I have after market double ball joint link arms on the missus VS. Still going strong now for more than 2 years as recommended by a local suspension outfit.

Previously I have replaced standard arms and used urethane type bushes but they never lasted.

On my VN I have gone back to the earlier design where the link arm connects to the lower control arm AKA VB-VL design. That and the strut brace with the standard sway bar the front of the car is a lot more stable than it was before with the factory set up.
