I used to get this code all the time but when the car was just started and idling. And only in this condition.VL400 wrote:Code 24 also applies to manuals, it gets set when the engine parameters indicate the vehicle would be moving but is not getting a signal from the speed sensor - Lots of vacuum, RPM between 1500 and 4400RPM for over 5 seconds ie coasting down a hill.
It could be an intermittent fault from a bad connection?
When I did the EFI conversion in my WB it took anything from 2 mins to 2 days for this code to be set. thought it was an intermittent fault as all I found at first was the description "CODE 24 VSS". Got sick of it so searched further and found the description above then it clicked, it was not an intermittent fault, it just varied how long it took to meet these conditions. Turned out the ECU had no VSS signal the whole time.VL400 wrote:Code 24 also applies to manuals, it gets set when the engine parameters indicate the vehicle would be moving but is not getting a signal from the speed sensor - Lots of vacuum, RPM between 1500 and 4400RPM for over 5 seconds ie coasting down a hill.

If the speedo works then it would indicate a fault between the sensor and the ECU.
