I find it very intresting and love to find out how he has done it,

I know for a fact there isnt any interfaces at all

Just a modified loom and not sure what he has done with the PCM

Apparently the LS1 PCM can go in to a low res mode and not use the 24x crank trigger. The 3x signal (or ref signal from the DIS module) is used as the trigger input to the LS1 PCM on a V6.

Would then need to have the LS1 PCM control a single ignition output to drive the EST signal of the DIS. Or diode combine multiple outputs prividing there is no dwell overlap.

Bypass wire, not sure what he has done with that. There might be something the LS1 PCM triggers when in run mode. The early delco PCMs normally dont handle cranking spark, although the MAF PCMs can do so with the 18x signal for higher res low RPM spark control.

aha! so he may have used diodes to combine all the outputs into a single output, that might be the PCM mod that he talks about and the reason why one of his modded pcms can no longer be used on an ls1. given the ls1 pcm can drive coils at crank, perhaps hes just permanently wired in the bypass wire so the pcm is actively controlling the spark during crank?

other problem is I cant see any option in efilive to change the number of cylinders to suit a v6. I wonder how that was handled. given that he says a custom o/s can still be used which means there arent any bin hacks as a custom o/s would override any bin hacks.

Hp tuners gives you an option to change to 6cyl and also change firing order Jayme.

I think VL400 is on the money here..
So question is how do we get the pcm into low red mode ( no such setting in Hp Tuners )

VL400 i did do some tests and the DFI ignition module does not need any PCM connected at all to get spark...It just gets a signal from the PCM to advance and retard timing..

yep VL400 knows allll about the DFI module and how it interfaces to a pcm... he built his own delco compatible module here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2913

it sparks at 10 degrees while cranking (or with no pcm connected) it needs to be seeing the right signals from the pcm before it will go into pcm controlled mode. thats the tricky part. I wonder would the 60 degree reference angle come into play?

the low resolution crank is under Vehicle platform options in efilive.

Excellent...Ill change the Pcm to low res tomorrow and see how we go..

Thanx Jayme

yeah if you can get the engine started with just the crank output connected and the module locked to 10 deg cranking spark thatll be a good start! then you can worry about trying to hook up the spark trigger and bypass wires next.

How are you planning on using the 6 ign outputs with the DIS module? Diode combined?
