Wow, that's quite some work! Very impressive.

I once designed a spark-only ECU, but it was purely analogue. Never got around to building it though.

For a digital design, I wonder why you didn't use a micro? MC68705R3 or MC68HC705C4 or even ye olde 8749 would have been commonplace back in those days.
