im much the same as you Ant all my servers are either raid 1 or 10 always keep it simple for me lol

Had one fail on me, also few colleagues have had them fail, saying that this is all home stuff, i wouldn't even consider one in a work environment

You get what you pay for to thats why the decent Synology's are expensive
qnap is expensive to, anyway the ones i have are 5+ yrs old so gathering your failing ones are prob whatever cheap stuff there flogging now.

Currently at work we have 3 labs of NUC's going well, but i only set them up 3 months ago, 90 machines. We'l see what the reliability of them is long term. My one at home runs 24/7
