Mine was off the shelf at 108. Peak VE was around 4500rpm from memory. Aftermarket intake ported heads good exhaust.
Didn't do much until about 3500 then you could feel it even light throttle.

did you ever get a dyno reading?

Yeah 250kw pulls really good. Not bad for a little 304

I just found out this car is fitted with a TCE4800 torque convertor which I'd assume it's a 4,800rpm stally which means it's only going to grab when it's all over with a standard banana manifold?

Even for that cam 4800 is to much. 3500 would ve sweet on mine if it was auto.
A mate has this cam in a carby vk and runs a 4k stall and it's to big.

I don't know part numbers on torque convertors, would I be right in assuming it's a 4,800rpm stally?

You'd think so.

That cam/converter would work combined with some decent gears in a drag car.

Banana's are going to kill it though :(

Going to make tuning it fun because you'll struggle to get any decent engine load at low-mid rpm. Might be better off tuning it with a standard stall converter and than fitting the high stall when it's done.

That cam will want more comp too.

Gonna be one grumpy mofo, will definitely sound the part. I wouldn't try and get it to idle to low either..... Think of the lobes......

Thanks for the input & my thoughts too with gears & banana!

If Dylan managed to tune his ok with similar cam & being manual wouldn't load at idle be similar to neutral?

I'd advise the owner to wait with tuning it until he gets a decent manifold because the tune with the banana's manifold won't be any good when switches to a new one. you'd almost have to start from new with a good manifold on it.

A high stall will still load up the engine a bit, it's not like it will only slip until it hits 4800rpm. A decent quality converter should really only slip a bit more than the standard converter and only really flash stall to the rated stall point once you get up it (converters have come a long way in the last 20 years). I'd be watching the trans temp on the dyno whilst working on the low load areas, that converter will create a lot more heat when it's off the stall point.
