Re: BennVenn's VW Delco Conversion
That sure does look easy! You could do the exact same if you placed the regulator in the tank and put a T before it.
Re: BennVenn's VW Delco Conversion
yeah except in the late model commodores, they still use an external fuel filter. fuel goes out the pump out the tank, into the filter, then after the filter there is a Tee, and one end goes back to the in tank regulator, and the other goes to the engine, so the fuel cycling through the regulator is filtered.
I had to set this up on a little kit car a bloke was making... didnt realise the ford focus engine has no reg as it was returnless.... piped fuel pump straight to rail and jammed the pintels shut!! ended up buying an aftermarket reg, out the tank, through a filter, Tee off to reg then reg back to tank. worked like a charm after I thumped all the injectors onto the workbench to free up the pintles.

Has anyone purchased from this site? http://www.kemotorsport.com/
Looking at grabbing the AMR500 and a few flanges, maybe the gilmer kit too
Edit: Sent him an email and he called me a few minutes later. Nice bloke, Looks like he's got what I'm after.

Re: BennVenn's VW Delco Conversion
If I remove the dizzy I'll have a lot more room to work with. Perhaps even aircon.
Any reason I cant replace the camira reluctor with a crank driven reluctor? I could machine a low profile phase sensor for the wasted spark system. Has this been done in another thread?

Re: BennVenn's VW Delco Conversion
You'll need a reluctor sensor (ABS sensors work well) and a D1927A ignition module (check ebay US, they were used on a bunch of 4cyl chevs). Those ignition modules use a pair of standard v6 commodore coil packs, so you just need the bare module from the US. There's a couple of plugs you'll need to splice into the loom, and you'll need to machine up a 6+1 notch crank trigger wheel, you can find the template in a few threads here. Last you'll need to change your spark reference angle from 10* to 70*.
I'd recommend doing it, well worth the effort.

Re: BennVenn's VW Delco Conversion
I'm thinking keep the existing module and use a simple gate to distribute the spark to cyl 1&2,3&4. No need for a custom trigger wheel, just 2 iron pins pressed into the crank pulley.
Re: BennVenn's VW Delco Conversion
I have used the 4cyl module and crank wheel before. it does work great, but if you have some ideas on using a camira module and 2x coils im very interested! I have a 4cyl as my next delcoed motorbike project. from factory it has 2x sensors, 2x modules and 4x coils... a bit harder to interface with the delco than the last 2cyl bike I did.
here is a thread with some pics of my coil pack setup.

Re: BennVenn's VW Delco Conversion
Does your bike have a cam trigger?
Re: BennVenn's VW Delco Conversion
im yet to inspect the new one in too much detail. its a Kawasaki ninja ZZR600 (engine only, in a buggy) I saw two triggers at the crank and two coils up top leading to two cyls each, so looks like a wasted spark system.
ideally maybe a circuit which inputs both triggers and spits out a single trigger to the camira module, then has an additional circuit which switches the output of the camira coil trigger to the correct coil depending on which of the two crank triggers pules last?
this is only dreaming lol I have zero electrical engineering skill.
