i had RDA rotors once and swore never again.
on the VX's i use the GM rotors straight from holden.
wifes VX shuddered not so long ago - had the rotors skimmed to reduce that no issues now.
my VX is just fine no issues.

interestingly i've always done nuts up in a star pattern and never clockwise as you logic tends to suggest this is the best way to evenly spread load across the whole deal while pulling the wheel up.

Ordered dba T2's today with QFM pads from brakes direct, they matched the cheapest price I could find and then wiped $5 more off and said I can have them for cost, they couldn't believe the price I was quoted so I couldn't ask for better than that :)

So the slots must be keeping the pads de-glazed.
i never noticed myself they were def better than stock pads but miles better with slotted rotors now

On the vr I have slotted only on the front and my God does it stop. Pulls 1 and half Gs.
The Vacationer had the same brake setup and it was half as good despite being a much lighter car. Difference was in the slotted rotors.

My mates vy is the same. Stops so hard and has dba T2 and qfm too. Fantastic combo imho.

Brake pads seem to make all the difference. maybe different pads on the varying set ups?

QFM HPX are a killer good daily pad I find. Slightly more dust than stock junk, next heat range up for improved performance brake scenario to reduce pad knock off and still manage to have an excellent cold pad bite.

Nah all same a1rm pads. In my experience the combo of pads and rotor are far greater than combined total when used seperately.

Also will add that a1rm with non slotted rotors has next to no cold bite and with slotted have stupid amount of bite that they are very touchy. When cold the rotor type exhibits the greatest difference despite same car, brakes and pads. So rotors must be the major factor here.

How do race car teams alter brake characteristics other than through bias? Through rotor composition or pad type?

Just pondering that one lol

There's quite a bit more to braking than meets the eye, there was an article somewhere i remember reading, The slotted rotors keep the pads clean/deglazed there was microscope shots, heat buildup and flat discs can get pockets of hot air trapped causing loss of braking as it can't clamp down properly, where slotted vents the air giving better clamping, there was other factors to but i was quite surprised at the detail especially in racing, where the dots and slots are located and what angles all make a big difference when racing heats them up.
