Re: any XDF info for this Kal bin?
Slightly OT, but I've wondered about calcs in a few XDFsdelcowizzid wrote:think the equation is X/2.56
Some seem to use 2.55 some 2.56 for conversion.
My thought was that 255 is the correct value, since the maximum 2digit Hex value xFF is equal to 255.
So you would never be able to achieve 100% with the equation X/2.56
255 = 99.61% 255 = 100%
2.56 2.55
Thoughts anyone?
Am I missing somethign simple?

You beat me to it Dr Bob.
Including zero there is 256 values.

I agree that there are 256 values.
I dont understand how we can divide by more that the max value to determine what percetentage of teh total is represented?
If the values were only 00, and 01, then surely you wouldnt say X/2? It wold be x/1, giving 0% or 100% of the maximum?
Am I still missing somethign? Does x00 not represent 0%?
Not trying to be a pain here, just want it to be straight in my head.
cheers

Re: any XDF info for this Kal bin?
I agree there are 256 possible values for an 8 bit byte, but to get a percentage where you can get 0-100% then it should be X/2.55 or X+1/2.56 depending on the range. I dont think X+1/2.56 would be used much (if at all) though.
Also interesting, I noticed some time ago that with kal sp3 (before OSE12P existed) many of the gauge screen percentages (such as TPS) wont go past 96.4%, which I presume are the same off by one bugs!

Re: any XDF info for this Kal bin?
Bit of a brain teaser isnt it .
I think Antus must be right with x/2.55 if you used (x+1)/2.56 and x was 0 ,then you would not get 0% .x/2.55 is the only equation that satisfies the values x= 0 and x=255.
