Poll for opinions on most economic cheap car
Re: Poll for opinions on most economic cheap car
81.5 for LPG here in northern inland NSW, price went up 7 cents per litre last month.
Same as Vlad I haven't seen below 50 cents per litre in over 10 years.
It's still about 50 cents a litre cheaper than E10 though.

Early Gen 3 Prius or late Gen 2.
Reliable, cheap to service and will get under 5l/100km on E10.

the mrs was already a bit keen on the swift... ill start looking at some prices of some of these models.
the bad thing, is that I have to sell my VY 5.7 Berlina to make this happen.
the bright side is, that once this situation is over (which will be 12 months ish) then I have permission to sell the buzz bomb and buy "whatever you want".
cant wait.

Unless you're travelling in heavy/slow traffic, why bother getting rid of the V8? Any small amount of money you save in fuel usage will be lost with the vehicle change...

Re: Poll for opinions on most economic cheap car
if its only for a year then yes.
Actually the gains in fuel usage is mostly seen in highway driving when large distances are covered in short time, so slow traffic makes stuff all difference. Yes the L/100km is much worse in a v8 in urban setting but we need to remember that L/100km is exactly that, where would you even travel more than a few 10s of Km in traffic in the city? The gains are almost mute in the urban environment.
Living 75km from the edge of the Melbourne suburbs and then having t drive across it some additional 30km, driven a few difference cars I can say the city part of the driving fuel consumption sees the least difference from car to car, long distance is where its at.
Really depends on the driving situation.

Hyundai i30 all the way.
Never misses a beat, great fuel economy, probably the most reliable car we have!
Not sure how much they are these days though?
