need vs ecotec and vt ecotec custom tunes to work with

all good mate i was trying to import it from ECU insted off select XDF , im just going to try a basic inprovment of the hsv 3800 tune by changing the spark advance at full load (100 map) to run best on 95 octane, and give it a bit more juice on the top end to make a richer WOT fuel map limiter up by 200rpm and gain 2 degress for each 1000rpm past 4800. . .

no worries mate seems like u got it sorted, few tips with xdf files when you download them sometimes they have a checksum attached to it so delete that and makesure you bypass the program id checksum after altering the tune as it will go into limp home mode when it goes back into the car if you dont, there is a way to make a new correct cheksum but i just bypass it!

hey people as stated above i need to download STOCK VR V6 AUTO .ecu file

but i cant seem to find a source to download them , if any one has these and can send them

to me or give me a link it will be alot of help , thanks for your time and help guys . . . ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR SOME MORE INFO REGARDING BYPASSING THIS CHECKSUM THING, WHAT IS IT ???

A checksum is used to verify the memcal code is correct (see here for an explanation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Checksum). When you change the tune you will make the checksum different. If you dont change the stored checksum when the ECU code boots up it will think something is wrong and will be in limp home mode. You can either let tunerpro handle the checksum calc (if setup it does this whenever you save the bin) or bypass the checksum. To bypass it make the device ID AA instead of 12 for the VR. The device ID is defined in the XDF and called 'Program ID Word'. It also mentions the AA to bypass checksum.

hey VL400 thanks for all your help im a bit of an idiot at this at the moment hahaha i just tried that file that u linked me too and all fields in tuner pro are blank 0.00 , almost like it is a completly blank

tune/file , also regarding checksum how do i set it up on tunerpro so that it changes it when i save the file ??? like i say mate thanks for your help and good on you for trying the help the new kid

Have you downloaded a bin file and opened that in tunerpro? Need both the bin and xdf. Get the bins from here .. https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3, get BLCD.zip

The checksum is under the XDF settings. Click the XDF drop down menu, then XDF header editor. There is a tab called checksums. You can then adjust it to suit. The XDF i pointed you to has it set so you dont need to worry about it, the checksum will be updated when saving the bin.

You will need to change the device ID to AA for this one as it wont update correctly. There are also different versions of $11 code so depending on that there may be a one or two byte offset which will make the data look very wrong.
