DIP Switches look right. Do you have the USB connected for power?

what about the jumper block on the down side of the eprom, i don't have willem handy to check it.

I have the USB for 5V supply, and the d25 to the printer port. Tried two different printer cables too.

everything looks set right to me. for the dip switches that are on, test them with a multi meter to make sure they contact... holden202 has had experience with dodgy dip switches

Just did a chack, 1.4ohms across the switches in the ON position, my meter has about .09 ohm probe resistance, so it seems ok. I retested and still the same. Device is not blank $000000.
Without the USB lead connected, the yellow light dims, and I get a check hardware error so thats an indication the thing is working to a degree.

what verison software you using? im using 0.97g

I seem to recall that I had an issue with my parallel port being in the wrong mode (can't remember the correct one off the top of my head) but I had to adjust it in the BIOS of my pc.
failing that it could be dirty contacts... a good spray of contact cleaner can't hurt

Just throwing ideas out there, but my wilem won't play on USB power.
It's only happy when I plug in a power brick.

looks slightly different to my willem but the jumpers that are on it seem to be in the same position and i was running a 12 volt power adaptor.
Have you checked the jumper to select usb or power adaptor 5v for usb 12v for power adaptor i think it was.
