A good home made tool for unpinning terminals can be made from the solid tip of an old car aerial.
Grind it down so it fits in the terminal to the locking tab.
The stainless is really string and if used carefully doesn't break or bend very much.

Some terminals require unpinning from the back and some from the front, have a good look and you should be able to work it out. The first couple are the hardest, once you get the knack you can pop them out in a couple of seconds.

i have a small piece of oxy welding wire that i use for the pin removal, fits the holes perfect!!

on the identifying the loom side of things, one easy way to tell is if there is a big round plug like the one below.... this is the plug for the auto in a VR V6, if it doesn't have that its most likely a vn/vp or maybe vr manual loom.....

I though the vr v6 auto ecm connector plugs were all blue with the exception of the rfi.
And the vn vp and vr v6 manual were black ?

Thankyou kindly I will contact you if my first offer doesnt pan out [waiting to hear back re details]

I have a good diagram of ECM pinout to wire colours for VR V6 Manual and the loom is very close to this diagram with 7 exceptions out of 56 possibles.I do not have a GOOD diagram of VR auto and have searched extensively.[a diagram split into 4 pics is too hard to use]

One way to tell is what colour wire (if any) is on pin A8. On a VN/VP it will have nothing, VR manual will be red/black and VR auto will be blue/white. Having black plugs I doubt its a VR auto loom.

Here is a single page VR V6 auto diagram ... https://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopi ... 37&start=0 The multiple page diagrams are much clearer than this though.

If your keen to do your own chip can always buy a willem and an EEPROM for around 70 bucks total. Can then play around with different tunes
