Yea tru but I think you need a starting timing table. I make up a simple excell spreadsheet plotting the mechanical and vacuum advance from a similar carbie model and make it conservitave so theres little to no chance of detonation the as has been mentioned the injector settings then work on the VE after logging. Final timing does come last I agree.

I'm surprised nobody has said what I think is the most important thing. make sure everything is working properly first. Otherwise you end up tuning around an existing problem, the problem gets worse or changes, and your tune goes out. First of all check all the basics.

* look for error codes. If any sensors are faulty, fix them
* check your base timing. If your computer is in diagnostic mode and says its 10 degrees, check it with a timing light.
* make sure your fuel pump, pressure is good
etc etc.

Its typical for people to start with a broken car or a failed system, and think its a problem with a tune. Only once you know everything is working properly can you tune. Tuners, surprisingly, often end up spending more time fixing obvious or obscure faults, then the tune part happens at the end and might only be 20% of the time on the job.

Nothing was mentioned of an issue to be fixed. Just tuning sequence.
