P04 R&W Testing

They go by many names, P01, P10, P12, P59, E38, VPW, '0411 etc.

from the BINs I have, it looks like the 256k PCMs are in basically every 96 v6 car, and the 1mb were all 04-05 Grand Prix.

In the list zack4200 posted the 1m's have filenames with 04-05 in them and they have VIN's so that covers them, the 256k ones have filenames with 96 in them and uses UP's v6-96-97.xml ...

That's what there is to work with so far, I imagine with a bit of sleuthing that info can turn into Service Numbers, which I have yet to do, ATM trying to get my gear selector to move from sleeping to working but it seems stuck!
In other words, just woke and being lazy ATM ...

Thank you!

Cool. I think I can work with that. I'll dig into it tonight.

I searched a couple of the PCM: numbers from my list, and they pulled up ebay listings with matching numbers, but none look like p04, they look like E40 or similar maybe? I'm not very familiar with the Gen4 pcm names https://www.ebay.com/itm/313923608035, https://www.ebay.com/itm/175477822882
None of the PCM2: numbers seem to pull anything up in my brief searching.

zack4200, I have no clue what you do or know, but I assure you, you know more about these then I ... You fed me my first bite of info on them!
All I knew before was words they existed, that's it!

Using your links to physically see the Service Number, then looking at your list, it looks like the PN column and the PCM: number are the Service Number.
To me that's huge.

So that appears to cover a 1m, card is between keys, I want to see if I can find a 256k first, maybe I can get lucky and get them both from the same place!
Hopefully my supplier has them, they'll be here within the next few days.

All I did was scroll through here (https://www.customecm.com/tune-file-rep ... VFS9IWx1kP) and it looked most similar to the E40 lol.

I think you're correct on the service number, I'm not sure how I missed that. I'll blame it on not being fully awake.

Naw, I think I'm wrong, I dunno know :?

I zoomed in on the image of the 2004 Pontiac GP and realized I was looking at the wrong number, I think it's the HW number 12584053, the other number is clearly marked as SERV. NO. 12581501 and is not in that posted list.

The Malibu one has what I think is the HW# 12589175, the other number is clearly marked SERV. NO. 12581598 and is also not in that list ...

Now I'm even more lost ... I guess it's time for me to stop thinking before I dig myself deeper!

I am HOPING to go to the local JY this Saturday and get a few PCMs.
Anyone care to help me with models, years, and powertrains to look for?
ALSO, does anyone KNOW what the cutoff year was for the P10, P12a, and P12b?

Thanks,

Mike

Gamy...I can get one of the 1MB PCMs listed in the spreadsheet (12588930). Would that be helpful for me to test reading the BIN?
