Do you need to run an Auto? If not and if your objective is to just run the engine, going '808 again will be the easiest. If you want to play with new stuff, most newer systems will need some kind of a cam trigger. If you want to use after market hardware and not upullit parts then I hate to say this but maybe an aftermarket computer, either like speeduino or a mainstream option might be easier. Have a look at the hardware guide to see what is what. If you can find a VR you would be better with that as you'd get 11P. If you go VS it needs to be V8 for the older gen which wont be at that wreckers. Thats not to say you cant use a VS MAF based computer, but you'll have to deal with the cam trigger.

A twin turbo 360 with around 15lb boost would be a monster. I did love the 340 which was not common here but boy did it rev. I would personally go a later P59 or the other one (don't remember the number) but it's had a lot of development and as Antus said cheap. I can't believe the price they now want for an 808 on eBay.

Really? I had no idea. I've got about 15 from that one time the wreckers did all you can carry for $50 day like it was 1998 thinking people would take big heavy parts. I found I could load up on 808s. lol. They took interest and asked a lot of questions and let me do it but they never did that again. At the wreckers you're better off calling it an N13 pulsar computer and loom because most people don't realise its the same thing and you get a nice engine loom with the fuses and relays too. Computer is under the passenger seat, there are a couple of wires to any A/C and if its an auto loom some wires there that are easier to cut too. Not that Pulsar N13 is common now, but something to look for.

Ebayers have hoarded them and asking about $150 each.
I picked up 3 from Upullit a number of years ago when VN's were still available and they might have been $30 each.
Recently there was a VN at Gillman upullit I lokked at that had only been there a couple of months and it was pretty much stripped.

It sure would be, mine will be N/A though and I will be chasing rpm's. Hopefully I can get this to rev to 7k safely with the lumpy roller cam and single plane manifold.
If I could get a 340 I would but there are rare and extremely expensive in Oz. Bigger bore on the 340 block and shorter stroke (same stroke as 318) makes them rev hard.

Your lucky to get them for $150. Most are around $300 now. I recently picked up a VR ECU and Mace memcal for $100. It was advertised as a VN ECU. The Bin file looks almost like a std VN.
I sepnt many years working for a company called Breakthru Performance and biult up many Chrysler and Chev V8's including the 426 Hemi. What a beast they are.

Wow that's expensive.
Re 426 Hemi, yep they are nicknamed elephant for a reason, they are a monstrously large engine.
Also a very over square engine 4.25" bore x 3.75 stroke.

I reckon I haven't seen any car with an 808 still in it at any wrecker for the last 5 years at least, maybe longer.
And maybe close to 10 years with any that still had a memcal.
I managed to get a few VR memcals and the wrecker was reluctant to let me buy them without the PCM, but I explained what I used them for, any they let me have them. It was only 2 I think. I have some ECUs that are missing them, so I wanted them to at least have spares that are complete.

Yeah most ECU's I come across are stripped of the memcals.
