Just bricked a vx pcm today had major issues getting it to talk initially managed get the Bin Pulled. Had a crackle tune and manual mode programmed by someone (not my car) in attempted to flash in v2.09 with vx coms enabled, it shat bed started losing coms part way through then failed repeatedly.

I flashed the same tune into a spare vy pcm on bench and cars out door running mint.

Any hot tips here? It won't even connect still pulls current as expected though.

vx and xy PCM are the same, so if it works on one and the other lost comms its most likely a hardware failure. Lots of trouble getting it to talk in the first place is a red flag it was failing, or something else in the car affecting comms was. Its possible it was something else on the bus (if flashed in car) that caused comms problems and let an error slip through, but either way other module or pcm hardware problem if it wont talk now, and you have tried cutting power and then reconnect, the only other option is de-solder the chip and plug it in to a programmer in a socket. If its a failed PCM this wont work. If its corrupt, and you have the hardware and the skill it might be possible to revive it. Chances are replace PCM is an easier option. The checksum in a data packet on an ALDL ECM or PCM is only 1 byte, which means the sum is one of 256 values which means the chances of an error getting through with a fluke of a matching checksum when there is corruption are 1 in 256. The protection is more than none, but not perfect in difficult comms situation. If you have many retries all the time changes of more than 256 corrupt packets when flashing a whole PCM is likely. Generally speaking if you have trouble connecting and data errors don't proceed until you can fix them and get reliable communications.

I had coms work stable before flashing but initially something on bus kept hopping online for chat, got that sorted and about 4 minutes in to bin flash it started to get errors. But yes I did flash in car this time which I dont really like doing.

Oh well live and learn, car had problems with old tune anyway something was up and new pcm fixed it. Can use it for parts.

If anyone has a spare flash PCM though pm me.......

Live tune candidate possibly plucking chip off and re writing would be good practice.

I'll do something with it.
