Yeah , ive seen that before and to me something doesnt add up.The spacings are 35 and 55 deg .In module mode fires 10 btdc and if you add the 55 deg spacing for when est is activated this gives 65 not 60 deg.I maybe wrong but thats how i read it.

Yeah not sure about some of the info in that article either. Anyone want to accurately measure a V8 dizzy? Or anyone got a copy of the factory manual, the V6 volume has the 18x/3x/ref relationship in a nice pretty picture so maybe there is the same for the V8?

Is anyone in canberra (as well as present on this thread)?

The national library of Australia has the manual in the 'Petherick reading room'.
http://catalogue.nla.gov.au/Record/1556604
They will also send electronic copies of part of the manual for a small fee if you know the page start number.

ive looked in the VP manual.. it doesnt have any detailed explainations, just a basic overview of it all.
I dont think its that mysterious.... its got 55 and 35 degree spacings but probably doesnt switch exactly on the edge of the chopper, the lag time etc, probably adds up to 5 degrees.
regardless of all that, the 60 degree reference angle in the software gives the correct commanded timings back at the crank anyway.

If the ref angle is wrong you will still have correct timing but the rotor wont line up with posts correctly. This is because you set the timing in diag mode not module mode.Module mode timing may also be wrong.Maybe Holden have made a fundamental fuck up.

haha I never thought about it that way, maybe ill go force it into module mode and see if the base timing is different in diag mode to module mode hehe.
