modules normally do error during the flash, this is normal. the clearing DTCs stage at the end should reset everything without user intervention. Debug logs of good and failed to compare would be useful, andd details about the interface. If speed and retrys have changed it would be specific to the driver for that interface.

Interface is vcx nano. It clears PCM dtc's at end, but not all the modules dtc's, as they were all there after the read, and this was just a successful read, no flash. Driver was same for both version tests.

the clear dtcs is a broadcast, sent once at 4x and once at 1x so all modules should see it. thats what other tools do, too.

Any idea why the other modules dtc's didn't clear? Why do all my other scan tools and software require communication with each individual module in order to clear it's codes?

I dont know. If you've got a log of what another tool does at the end on the bus, post it up for a look.

Some vehicle modules require being individually requested to clear. Global clear commands do not work on some modules.

Seems I have noise in power and as long as I uncheck 4x, now I can read write p01 and p59 as intended by PCM Hammer.

Now researching ways to power my bench set up correctly :). Link anyone?

If you search for a lab power supply, you should have many options for something usable. They generally have a better power quality than wall packs which are mostly designed for things which have their own power filtering, unlike ECUs. A random link to a random supplier for an idea of what Im thinkiing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/114286248974 the best thing about the current protection is you can set it to about 1amp and you have protection for wiring problems that might save an ecu one day too. If there is a short the PSI will cut out and signal overload somehow rather than the pcm letting the smoke out.

Not all lab power supply's are the same, I've been through two that caused all sorts of issues ...
Most likely my bad purchase choices, but I got done with them because I wasn't going to spend more money when re-purposed Wal-Warts work perfect.

Try hitting up your local Computer shop, see if they have any laying about.
The best Wal-Warts I've found are Netgear branded ...

But I would first ensure that is what the problem is by using a fully charged battery.

I was finally able to look at my notes from the last two read fails using v21. My results may be coincidental with regards to v21 as both of the most recent read fails were attempting to read OS 9381344. Looks like I will be updating the OS and proceeding from there.
