Okay so there is alot of talk about the different GM PCMs and the reluctor wheel on the crank, and this has been on my mind alot lately. What is it about a PCM that makes it use a certain reluctor wheel? Is it in the software or is it hardware on the circuit board? I know that the reluctor wheel can be physically removed from the crank. But I want to experiment with other V8s, even ones that are distributor run using an P01/P59.

It depends on the system. In this case the logic is in the ignition module, and could be analog circuitry. In other types of PCM its in PCM firmware. Its a question of both electrical compatibility, and what the PCM is built to expect.

In my case I'm running a GM 6+1 already on a D1927a ignition module, back to an '808 pcm with our realtime nvram kit. So this means that I could probably keep the same trigger if I went to one of these 4 Cyl American PCMs that use the 6+1 ( aka7).

Ive been looking at HDW 16268310.. Is that also a P08, or something else? If so, anyone know what? Its 00-02 Chevrolet Cavalier among others.

The Cavalier using the 2.2l OHV and 2.4l Twin Cam motors used a P08. (I THINK the 2001+ used the Eco)
The one's using the 2.2l Ecotec used the P11 which has a different case and connectors!

That number shows it fits a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2L, my info shows it could be a P08 or P11, then consider what Mudduck514 states above, it is a P08, if it looks like a P01.

My info shows the 1997-2003 Chevy S10 Pickup and GMC Sonoma with the 2.2L (L43/LN2) also uses the P08.

Ok, so hdw 16268310 looks like it is the P08. So I have one on the way to see if we can add it. And it looks like it ran from 2000 through to 2002.

Connector for P05 and P11 PCMs

To clarify, is it 3 Connectors for P11, 2 for the P05 ??

Just the opposite:
The P05 has 3,
The P11 has 2.

Anybody have or know were to get a P08 bin, looked at gearhead, couldn't seem to find any.
