The spigot bush for the converter looks like part of the crank but its removable, just pull it out and swap to a manual one

you sure the timing is not just the balancer spun ? I'd recommend buying a new decent balancer for it anyways .... I don't think I've seen any factory type balancers last too long before moving the outer ring!

I can't say weather the hypatecs are any worse or better, but I know a high kms motor is going to have a lot more chance of failure in the application your using

that said I've made a 202 with cast acl duralite pistons make something like 400hp at the wheels!
a lot of people say 202's are shit cause they rip the tops off standard pistons, that said I have never had anything stock in any 202's I've revved so I can't say other than "what I've heard" .... I just think for a few hundred $$ more its cheap insurance!
on the subject of spark plugs im not sure 8's will be the go, I've had a lot of issues with fouling 8's since going boosted, so went back to 7's .... but this is with methanol too so you might get different results with petrol.
when you say pot 3 out the side are you referring to the gasket ?
oh and if you don't have them already, heres some handy part numbers
132-5401 - Holden 6 Main Stud Kit
152-4001 - Holden 6 Head Stud Kit
205-6002 - Holden 6 Rod Bolts
206-2802 - Holden 6 Flywheel Bolts

The 202 did loose the skirt of the piston around the oil ring groove at times, but I don't recall seeing any blue/black motors loosing a skirt in the same manor.

looks like massive lpg backfire or someones done a keybanger and the pistons rocked over and forced the skirt to crack up the sides apart from that one piston all the others are like new not a single scuff on any can see the machining marks on the skirts still

ok found another complete 3.3 for $300 noticed the 3.3 ground off the block thought it was weird pulled it down tonight 30 over acl race duralight pistons with mega dish now were are talking cranks 10/10.off to swap bearings and rings tomorrow as we bought standard for the other engine.the yella terra heads getting a skim to make sure its flat.custom cam is being speced this week on a brandnew billet allready sent the details to my cam guy.very nearly went roller with buick roller lifters but dont have the time to mess around as we are trying to make some racing thats coming up. did drop in some lifters and tested the S1 dogbones looks doable with some grinding for cheap

.copper headgasket getting cut studs going in should hopefully be bulletproof soon.
