I think it might have been typical bad luck of the draw, two problems or something, as I replaced each part one by one and all combos still failed. I wrote off that kit as that seemed to be the appropriate thing to do. I still have the loom wiring you built and could send back another setup confirmed working on this side.

So I broke more than one thing it sounds like... Interesting, I'm so curious to know what really happened but we will probably never know. Anyway, it sounds like everything except the wiring is no good ? You've done a lot for me already man, so i don't want to ask for too much but if you feel like it, let me know of a price and time frame and I will see what I can do. I do get request every now and then for this NVRAM stuff so I know some people are interested and I had probably 80% to 90% of the work done when this thing decided to stop working so I wouldn't mind finishing it

Out of interest 3400TZ. If this was to be a feature would it be possible to be able to write a whole bin file AND just the cal part from a bin file?
What about a read bin feature? Read the eprom from the app with the ecu in the car?
Both features are available on our flash tool.
Sorry to sound demanding just throwing some ides out there. I have no idea what's possible.

Write whole bin wont be possible. There needs special code in the bin to support it. When you look at 11P and 12P you'll see an ALDL section near the end. That is just the minimum code needed to run the CPU and support ALDL write (comms isnt free in these pcms, software needs to be running). So you need to put the OS in to that special propriety mode VL400 invented and then write the bin. Its totally non standard, somewhat risky, and only supported on 11P and 12P. Its also not supported on 1P before about 110(?). To do a live update like that to 112 which you would only need to do once its worth using a PC and the flashtool.
Thanks for the offer on the hardware, but there is no problem there. All I needed really was interest from 3400tZ to try again, and we have that.

Thanks for the info Antus. Does that mean write cal will still be an option with this app?

in terms of whats physically written, it will only be the cal. the goal here is to get uploading of cal section, downloading of bin and realtime tuning working on android, how that is presented to the user is up to 3400TZ but I can imagine that it would be easiest to just use complete bin files to select with aldldroid and only upload the cal portion of it.

That would be great. Writing a new cal would be the most used and usefull feature. I honestly haven't used this app to modify any tunes. Just logging and the live displays.

as a suggestion..
if a read bin/write cal option could be written in like how VL400's logger is configured it would be great as we can define ourselves what the mode etc is to write the cal.
I suppose realtime could also be done in a similar way that allows the user to configure the parameters to add support themselves.

Dylan, I really appreciate the offer, it sounds like antus got me covered for now!
As to what this app will be able to do, I guess it's whatever is supported by the ECU and can already be done with TunerPro. I would have to check the work I had done last year to see what were the exact feature I had planned for the first release. I do need some help from somebody that knows how these ECUs work but again, antus sure does and he's been more than helpful so far so I'm not too worried there
