E67 to T87/T87A TCM interface needed
Re: E67 to T87/T87A TCM interface needed
Been tied up on other projects this past week, but did make a little progress on the 10LS3 setup Friday before. Spent most of the day sifting through CANbus data and clearing out hardware related DTC's. But after 5pm, we managed to get a couple quick test runs on the bench to capture some live data. Which proved helpful in highlighting my coding mistakes. Like telling the TCM that max engine torque output value is 110nm vs 1100nm.. And our MAF torque values also looked a little outa wack. But it goes through all the gears on the floor, with a little throttle blip to lower the torque requests numbers.
This week I test drove a 2022 6.2, and 2023 3.0L both with 10L. The 2023 was electronic shift. Which takes some getting used to, as Park is now a button.. But both units being Global B, I gained no real data. Then called a buddy with a 2020 6.2L, who was more than happy to run it through the gears for me in all modes. That produced some usable 10L data we can work with. And after a quick review, I noticed it also holds 5th until above a certain speed. So I think we are closer than I thought. But it's hard to tell much without any load on it.
So next week, hopefully this hardware all finds it's way into a chassis, then I can iron out the shifting details. Here is video of stand alone E38-T87A first floor run.

good progress

Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Bloody oath good work. It's cool having it running on the stand like you do, I bet that makes life easier.
I've been watching these guys, 10L into a Chevy SS. Too many gears for my liking

Not my personal floor rig, but someone fairly close who has every other late model GM engine / trans combination laid out like that. Might be a new electronic shift unit in that crate beside the LS3 engine.

So hacking all this out on floor running hardware is quite helpful, especially when the end goal is a 100% stand alone unit. Bonus of having easy access to logging any other ECM/TCM combo without all that pesky chassis data getting in the way, Priceless !!

Nailed down a source with some of these properly coded, wire terminal type 6L80 TCM matching connectors. But with a minimum buy of 100 pieces. Or I wait 60 days for the manufacture to run another batch.
How much gear head demand is there is for these in the real world at $15ea. I need a dozen or so. Beyond that, the rest be fleeBay bound.

i think initially the demand would be low.
i certainly can't imagine there would be too many aussies doing it... i might need to be the trend setter on the 10l conversion first before others catch on. lol

Yeah I'm with ya being a low demand item. Reason I'm looking for another outlet.. LOL. Personally, I'd wack that thing outa the harness in about three seconds and go to a Molex 16 pin to bridge the harness gap. But at least four people have ask me so far if I can supply a plug-N-play adapter for 6L swaps. To which I've answered, "Sure thing, you're not using that 6L valve body any longer correct ? "
Heck I've never even looked at a 6L pinout yet, but I sure know 8 of those 16 wires don't need to go past the firewall on any external TCM swap..

These became available again in U.S. So I purchased a few to verify the fit. Waiting on some terminals to arrive from Asia, as those are Not available over here in small quantities.

Re: E67 to T87/T87A TCM interface needed
i picked up a burnt out 21 Silverado from Pickles auctions on monday & a mate delivered it today.
Whole car is burnt out, but the driveline survived. Someone spent prob a good 180k on it because it has full exhaust & 2650 Supercharger on top. Blower wouldnt turn over by hand, but until i get engine out and pull the melted shit off it, hard to tell if it's recoverable.
But the 10 speed should be fine, covered in black soot. The TCM/ecu are all melted haha.

At least ya scored a 10L. Now bolt that sucker up.
I tested one of those Kostal TCM side connectors without terminals against the 6L80 harness. While the outside dimensions are the same, the keyway and pin placement is way off.. Was a good try I guess...
Pretty dang glad I waited and didn't buy those 100 pieces from Alibaba, or I'd be making plastic mulch this weekend. But since I have a couple in hand, will drop one off to the guys doing my A50 connectors, and see if they can correct that pin placement issue affordably.
