could you 3d scan something & print out?

I'm not up to speed on 3d design stuff yet but i got myself a 3d printer a few weeks ago & been printing out a few things, started with PLA, but using ABS stuff for the higher heat tolerance.

I found the T93 controller, it wasn't burnt was another module that looked very similar.

It still got some black soot/burn marks on the case. No idea if it's actually any good yet as i need to modify the bit of the wiring harness i cut off and test it on the bench.

As for engine/blower everything looks good. Blower turns freely but im likely going to send it back to Harrop for disassembly & checking.

Now back to the 10L stuff, i see that US Shift will be releasing a standalone controller for the 10r80/10l90 gearbox's, so might see more of these gearbox's getting used.

Since this thread has lots of tangents, I've also got a firmware to test on Link's G4x ecu's for native T43/6L integration. :D

Believe the 6L80 connector issue will soon be rectified. Saw a first print of one yesterday with correct keyway and pin pattern. Was bit easier to scan and print than the T14 piece I tackled last year.

On the aftermarket stand alone 10R/L controllers, I'm all for that approach after reading the two major GM 10L recalls over the past week. Looks like GM is going to be replacing a few valve bodies, and flashing some 500k TCM's over the next few months. Which kinda throws a curve ball at the bin file adjusting aspect, when the current versions on the road, might have serious bugs.. :typist:

Thoughts?

The recall on NHTSA states gas engine variants are not affected. Different model trans for diesel vs gas. Go figure.

I've heard of some Internal hardware "valve" issues on the gas versions, but nothing software linked so far. Guess probably still viable to dabble in the bin options.

I'm doing a dual bus gateway Holley to 10L this week. From my side, it's about as easy to just gateway all of them and not worry about GM updates. But have seen couple photo's with roadside failures on that other option recently. Probably just hardware glitching, but still sucks to be that guy. Router crash... :wall:

Here's a first print of that custom 6L connector. Kostal terminals fit correctly, locks into the chassis harness correctly. No to bad for a quick scan and resin print.

nice.

im hoping to get into 1 of my cars to repin the haltech to a link ecu to test 6l80e control, once thats tested i'd be keen to then test the 10L afterwards. so being able to just use the same plug wiring would certainly help.

Due to the amount of wiring for direct control & then working out the control strategy i think it might be easier to just use the factory tcm.

Can I point out another possible way?!
Anyone have messed aroud an E37 ecu? this is from newest gen4 engines from 201x truck or van, maybe up to 2016, I heard this is torque based more likely to gen 5 e92 stuff software, but have a e38 like hardware for port injection. Will this be paired to t87 with minor or even no modification on canbus???
But the tuning support is less than e38 or e67 at least in Hptuners I work with most the time.

Record some CANbus data from a E37 if possible and post it up. I haven't personally looked at that one, so would be interesting to see what that msg struct looks like. Different platforms in same year can have slightly different message structure. On the E67 for example, the Manual transmission mode OS versions, outputs all the common TCM msg data you'd normally get from a T42. And the T87 is the base for all T87A related code. If one speaks happy, the other model likely will.
Second thing I've noticed lately, these T87/A don't require much data to actually shift. Kill off some DTC's and it will get ya down the road behind about any post 2004 ECM..

I've got an E67 6L90 car at my disposal, and would be keen to help y'all out. What should I use to sniff? I've got an Arduino and a Pi on my hands. Happy to snap something else up as well.

EDIT: Just realised you said E37, Like a cobalt?

Get ya a CANbus Hat for which ever one you prefer. Arduino is probably easiest to learn with. Happy to show you how to collect data.. :D

Spent yesterday playing with a Holley Dominator on a big turbo'd BBC and 10L90. Since I don't see Holley quickly overcoming the 10L speeds sensor change, figured this be a good tester for a fully gatewayed setup. So far so good, for only receiving the most basic required signals.

Now just gotta fudge some steady state torque numbers, and I think it will hit all 10 tomorrow. Torque limiting via CANbus might be a bit tricky however, unless Holley toss out an RX msg list bone.. Let ya know how it turns out.
