But either way, good time to get some upgrades on to the motor that just wont die! Maybe you guys need to offer some assistance to Renault.

hahaha gold.

hahahahaha.
lean is mean LOL i think the fact it was up and down to 30 so fast might have kept it alive LOL pulled down one of the ported heads that were in the cupboard mean bowl job guides shaped like a pro job short turn clean as downside is big inlet valves only have one angle and the seats 1-2 angles and look like stock size just with the bigger valve LOL valves also have slimmed stems at the valvehead for more flow and the guides are a bit flogged might spend some coin on them get some k-lines and seat profiling done and a few angles on the valves.

202 is more alive than ever now.new valvesprings didnt fix the issue it had been sabotaged dizzy had been cranked round to 5 or 6 degrees retarded past 0 no way it could of slipped it was still F/T .balancer has slipped so remarked tdc today roughly with a screwdriver down the hole advanced her up to 8 in diagnostic mode and it just came alive.got dark by that stage so will more accurately find tdc when i get a chance and set it to 10 didnt want to go too far.springs definately helped doesnt stop pulling now and idle is mint

punch the centre out of a spark plug, drill it out, stick a bolt in it, weld it in, then screw it into the hole, turn motor over till it hits, then mark, go back the other way mark, then the centre of them two marks will be TDC.

I always mark the centre of balancers now for this very reason!

not many posts lately been dealing with life changes havnt been on a lot.but ive started dealing with these changes the only way i know how the need for speed :shh:

VB getting repaired and upgraded since we needed to do a headgasket or 2 after our map sensor hose issues (note to self cable tie the bloody hose on when it goes back on)lol

dug out the ported heads and started cleaning them up lot of carbon buildup look way good now they clean and ive had a tidy up can see the k-lines
vb inlet bowl.jpg
couple big arse valves jammed in here and polished.shame they took the bowls out so far that theres no room for a 5 angle seat but oh well will have to do
vb head chamber.jpg
exhaust ports didnt look too ported untill we cleaned off 1.5mm thick carbon LOL
vb exhaust ports.jpg
spent a while lapping the valves till we got spring install heights even enough for our backyardness 0.005" variance after swapping collets and retainers around on a couple of bad ones to take out some height and a bit of lapping.also found out why we were told these heads are only good with the adjustable Yella terra rockers that we bought them for stems on the inlets are longer from the collet groove to tip than the exhausts .heads got frost plugs bashed out and degreased and pressure washed up every oriface to make sure they were superclean
vb heads done.jpg
pistons all nice and clean ready to go again wouldnt know they have even had 30+psi at them but did have a good layer of lead on the tops before we gave them a clean :D .bores on the drivers side look new passenger side has a little thrust wear on the lower wall but minor.typical high nickel v6 block no real lip in the bore at all.all cleaned ready to bolt the heads on tomorrow and dummy fit inlet manifold and mark it so we can port match it
vb bores and pistons.jpg

the owner went to pull the ARP headstuds out of a rebuilt S2 engine he got for $200 with some turbo manifolds online that was meant to have not run long it got built then exploded a headgasket so got built again hasnt started since being stripped checked and reassembled.pulled the inlet manifold and noticed it looked hell ported.hmm.pulled studs lifted head brandnew acl race gasket unstuck never run.shiney pistons etc.turn head over and omg look at that chamber work.guess we have heads for 40psi later LOL. they have a good amount of work done in the ports including fitting brass tubes in 3 pushrod holes in each head to remove the pinch around the pushrod area and removing one corner to turn from the port
vb 30psi heads.jpg
can see the brass tubes in this one
