Re: E67 to T87/T87A TCM interface needed
Actually passed a message yesterday that I needed their RX signal set to do just that. Got back with me same day, they can pull timing on CANbus msg. Seems everyone is interested in 10spd mating options this week. Maybe since Motec is controlling the 10L's directly from the ECU now, as I also learned yesterday.
Was able to get the Dominator ECU and T87A talking and running together, and logged some good data up on jack stands. But we hit a range switch issue, and TCM wasn't reporting gear position. So is stuck at first gear until owner sorts the connectors. But all the other data looked legit before I had to leave.
What is your preferred protocol on that ECU? If this one spins up quickly, we can do Hal, AIM, Rackpak or whatever..

The video below is crap, but you can pause to see the data. Was recording both CANbus lines, cell phone video, all while freezing my balls off in sub 20f temps at TN last Friday.. But data wise, the T87A is Operationally Happy with just AccPedal, temps, RPM, and a few other switch signals lined up. Along with a few codes disabled, and no annoying MIL light to distract ya, this might go easier than I thought.

We also isolated the range switch issues to a GM document pinout mismatch. Will test again whenever temps allow...

Re: E67 to T87/T87A TCM interface needed
was taking to my mate who builds my gearbox's and convertors for our racecars etc.
he mentioned it would be interesting to see how all these swap's go with the higher horsepower cars with stock convertors because apparently they have an issue with the LT motors killing the thrust bearings from convertor pressure.
I'm still behind on doing the rewire on 1 of my drag cars to a link ecu/6l80 combo, likely i'll just do that in a mates patrol since i have his engine harness at the workshop to re-pin.

This might be a little bit off topic, but..
U-link NT is now able to read and write the T87a and he's about to come out with a 1 click unlock for use with hpt.
Edited to add.. the T87a unlock is live and the new version is out with the needed files.
Works great.

Off-topic here, too. U-link NT sounds like something I'd want to try to JTAG/BDM a non-GM MPC562 TCU. The issue is that PCB is covered in some kind of gel, seems to be made out of ceramic(?) and there're no labels whatsoever on any MCUs. Just not sure how to go about identifying JTAG connections.ironduke wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2025 2:02 pm This might be a little bit off topic, but..

the gel is something, but to find the jtag you need to take an educated guess about the CPU based on its size, compare what you know about it to factory documentation and verify the voltages and signals that you can against the physical locations on the chip, for example power and grounds. If that all lines up, then the use data sheet to identify jtag, and then trace the pins to find places you can connect to them. You might need to do some guesswork with probeing between random points on the PCB and the pin you are looking for, or destroy a PCM and remove the CPU and follow traces under it.

Re: E67 to T87/T87A TCM interface needed
The guy I was working with last week mentioned some converter issues. Know he's running an aftermarket, along with a few other internal upgrades. It's spinning a big tire 4-link setup under a 70 steel body. So should be a good heavy weight tester.Tre-Cool wrote: Mon Jan 06, 2025 1:42 pm was taking to my mate who builds my gearbox's and convertors for our racecars etc.

I personally have no preferences, or any real seat time in anything beyond stock Ford and GM 10spd variants.. Yet to ride in one with serious power. Just a keyboard warrior now days, happy to leave all the hard spinning parts to those looking to find those limits. Payed my dues in mid 90's spraying 900hp thru a 700R4.. So I'll focus on the 1's and 0's, and you guys tell me where they break ...
Do have a couple of those 6L80 connector prints laying around. Shoot me an address, will send ya a quick change option..

Recently stumbled onto a couple interesting facts about the T87A. All OS and hardware #'s are interchangeable. SN is still key to the unlock bins..

good point about trying to find the power supply and ground pins and then trying to use these as "markers" for other pins. This is an example of the PCB I was talking about (not the one I'm interesting in, of course):antus wrote: Tue Jan 07, 2025 7:14 am the gel is something, but to find the jtag you need to take an educated guess about the CPU based on its size, compare what you know about it to factory documentation and verify the voltages and signals that you can against the physical locations on the chip, for example power and grounds. this design is using "bare die"(?) mcus.
