When you go to play the log click on the mode/message button then scroll down abt 1/3 the page. As soon as you start playing the log it will detect and display the memcal info.

Thanks Charles, maybe I don't have the settings right on this laptop install as I still get nothing. I will check on the connected laptop later.

Gday all, is there much difference between v112 APNX V6 and the v112 BLCD v6 BIN? I am loading up a fresh bin to the NVRAM and just trying to work out which file to use. Thanks

Most are the same but there are differences in VE and spark tables but shouldn't make any difference for a starting tune. From your log I do see your battery voltage getting quiet low when cranking so maybe a booster or good charge before trying again. I don't know what's going on with RPM with massive spikes over 9000rpm. Possible interference.

Just a thought. Have a look at the pic. All those dissy's have a small mark to indicate where the reluctor and pickup coil should be when on N0 1 TDC. The rotor button should be pointing at the mark. It's a 4 cyl dissy but their all the same. Reason is I have seen a couple where the reluctor locating dowel has sheared off and the reluctor is free to rotate on the shaft. Grasping at straws now.

Thanks I have lined the rotor up to that mark with the harmonic balancer set at 10 degrees before tdc. This is one thing I am confident of. It’s a new NOS dizzy with the reluctor gap correctly so should have no problems there. I also checked that the coil was getting 12 volts at ignition on and just over 10v on crank but that’s because the battery was going down.

I installed the fresh 2P bin into the NVRAM with Brindo’s help (cheers) and made the minor changes to get it running but still no good. It did fire a couple of times but it didn’t run at all. I tried using starting fluid and it made no difference.

But an interesting observation, I tried to check the base timing in diagnostic mode but there was no constant flash coming from the timing light only very rarely. I put in an inline spark checker and it was flashing as expected. I am pretty sure now that there is something not right with the ignition system.

Cheers

ok the first thing i am seeing in this log other than the rpm spikes charles mentions is that the map sensor is on 9.52kpa ... never moves.... i think even if the settings were wrong for the map sensor type you would see some change in the readings when cranking.

Thanks, I may not have had the boost hooked up to the throttle body. Could this be a reason considering it’s a 3bar sensor?

The map should be starting at 100kpa or there abouts and drop some amount during cranking. If its like 9.5, that would only be possible under a hard overrun down hill with the throttle closed to even get close to that low Kpa reading, basically a very strong vacuum!

I would be checking out that map sensor. I have seen this sort of failure before in Falcons commonly. They barely can even run and any tiny throttle and they just die, the ECU thinks the car is under a hard vac so basically bugger all fuel is even delivered. But 9.5Kpa in on a whole other level of crazy vacuum, so if that is indeed the real value the ECU is seeing, it wouldn't run due to close to no fuel being commanded.
