Re: Toyota Powered VL Calais
my only question is, how do you know the MTX-L is reading wrong at WOT ? .....
I would also like to see the results with the two widebands swapped banks ....
for the record im not trying to defend the MTX-L but it may just be the characteristics of the motor ? .... I have also never seen a lot of the funkiness with any of the MTX-L's I've used compared to you ....
I was also thinking of a Spartan for permanent install into the Bedford

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

yeah id lean towards the spartan for at least its response.... it can pick up those tiny fluctuations at stoich... ive never seen a wideband able to pick that up!!
Re: Toyota Powered VL Calais
There's a new model out now using the LSU4.9 also a bit cheaper than the previous model.
$150 US from memory.

And thats just it, I dont know which one is the more accurate and have just noticed that there is an offset in the readings that gets larger as the target gets richer. Which one is actually correct I dont know!Holden202T wrote:my only question is, how do you know the MTX-L is reading wrong at WOT ? .....

All the screen shots have the widebands in the same bank, with narrowband in the other. The attached log has the spartan and narowband in the same bank and MTX-L in the other. In both cases at stoich during closed loop the spartan tracks perfectly either side of 14.7:1. So I think bank to bank fueling is pretty close (injectors had the1's injector day spa treatment and are all very close to flowing the same). I only have one bung on the drivers side bank so cannot put a wideband together with a narrowband in that bank. Passenger side the two bungs are within 50mm or so of each other.
Really the only test I can do with much certainty is that a narrowband sensor should be accurate to distinguish either side of stoich, so hopefully the wideband reads around stoich also.
I will hook up the LM1 and run three widebands and see what the results are, although a different brand to throw in the mix would be better!

I did a little digging on lsu4.2 and lsu4.9 and found this article.
http://www.ecotrons.com/technology/bosc ... 2_sensors/
Looks like the 4.9 is a better sensor, more accurate and faster response.
Was also interesting on the affects of back pressure and the problems created with the 4.2 needing a fresh air reference and what is seen in real situations compared to the lab.

im very impressed. in fact I bought a spartan2 just now... had a 4.9 in the drawer for a while after my mate bought the wrong sensor by accident for his LM-2. keen to compare it against my local dyno's expensive wideband now

Re: Toyota Powered VL Calais
very interesting article .....
if the LSU 4.9 is designed to be accurate and last for 10 yrs or more, does this mean that the one fitted to my new car would be suitable to use for real time tuning well into the hundreds of thousands of km's and be assumed to still be accurate ?

Keep us posted on the Spartan 2
The new sensors look good!

Re: Toyota Powered VL Calais
Just looked it up and it's $125 plus delivery, good buying. Think my Spartan 1 cost another $40 to get here.Dylan wrote:There's a new model out now using the LSU4.9 also a bit cheaper than the previous model.

I paid their $20 postage but got stung along the way another $20 or so maybe some duty fee's or something.
