you think that smells good you should try methanol
also dip your fingers in it, then pull them out, how nice and cold 
like yoda said with the air, these fuels are hydroscopic, meaning they attract water, also once you finish testing with them in the sealed tin, remove them and see what happens after a few days drying...... the main times I've had issues with methanol and corrosion is after draining the fuel system, I make sure I put petrol in straight after and flush it through so theres no more air in the system, and I've had no issues with it ..... but I have found it eats away at some things.
also not sure if its the same everywhere, but I've found united fuel is always around 90% and others go as low as 70% in winter, but apparently united doesn't, but you can get cheap testers off ebay if you want to know. bloke at Sydney dragway swears by united e85 cause its always spot on!
