umm .... thats probably not the best idea .... speed sensor is out, alot of the gear changes are wrong for commodore and other issues ..... it will work but really has too many changes to suit my torana .... it wont hurt the car though

if you try it use power mode, should shift firmer !

My sincere thanks to Dec_head for the memcals  ...the bwpj memcal has been put in and running well...would like to say I did it myself but can't....the memcal was put in by Mick of Pro-Action Motorsports here in Brisbane....at no charge which was really great!!...the car was tested for a short period on the Bruce goat track...no way that can be called a highway when you crawl along at 40k :wtf: ..and all went very well..unfortunately traffic stopped ny fun...but certainly seems an improvement on the other one...not as many shift changes and much smoother...thankyou all!!! :punk: ...

not yet...but soon...just have to get my wife out of the car first!! :wtf: ...thanks for the link Dec_head...mainly the actual kickplate itself that is proving a stumbling block for me...although comparing the two tunes doesn't really reveal a great deal of difference..the car handles differently...shifting is much smoother and the transmission doesn't appear to hunt gears so rapidly...all considered...really good!!

Got around to doing a datalog...results speak for thermselves....afr around 12 on accel...pity about the relaxing of spark advance because accel feels much the same as a result...checking earlier ecotec bins, looks like the early models had a good spark advance but maybe holden reduced the power by leaning out...commodore wagons never intended to be sports cars..but as time went on, the vehicles seemed to have been "tamed" to meet the market they were aimed at in a safer, robust manner...maybe other members can shed some light on this??....

finally!!.....the acceleration problem appears to have been solved....taking the advice of members, I methodically worked through every mechanical, electrical and assorted devices checking and cleaning...the last item...and I do mean last....was the maf sensor.....it was filthy!!...using crc maf cleaner, it was sprayed several times over and put back in......worked a treat.....idle is even better, accel is much improved and even gears shifts are improved.....trying each memcal, they both worked well....car running very well.....a huge thankyou once again for the incredible amount of support, advice and assistance.....to all, have a merry xmas and great new year...stay safe.......Shayne....aka Mamba. :punk:

Hey guys,,,been a while and a lot has happened…just thought I would add a recent experience that affected the car badly….started with a whining sound in the engine, this progressed into the car self revving up to 1500rpm for no apparent reason…..the fan then started playing up and would operate intermittently, even the aircon was switching on and off by itself.

Finally one day the car just roasted itself and all the water pipes, radiator etc were all but destroyed. The reason for all of this was the fan motor slowly burning out it took $1700 to repair all the damage and the motor all but rebuilt. As this site is dedicated to DIY, I thought this info may be handy as even experienced mechanics didn’t recognise the warning signs until it was too late.

As for the whining sound under the hood…I was travelling around 70kmhr on the highway when the aircon stopped, the headlights dimmed and my steering became extremely heavy along with a loss of brakes and the car was roasted for a second time…all in pouring rain….naturally this concerned me and I came to a dignified stop on the side of the road…(yep.. all a complete lie!!, the real words said and actions should not be repeated)…long story short, the car ended up on the back of a tow truck and returned to the motor builder for repair…the problem….NO drive belt…it decided to leave the engine at speed…..it was caused by the failure of the tensioner.

All good now, close to $3000 later and a near new motor and all new pipes, wires etc etc up front.

The loss of the drive belt at speed was scary and all I can say is keep an eye on the belts and tensioner, they can let go without warning.

The car is now running a Dr Bob tune that I bought last year. It works brilliantly

Hope all is going well with other members and take care……Shayne.
