Re: The FlashTool V1.39

Post by dmac_25 »

Got an issue using flash tool with the 808 ECM and USB comms.

Have finished what I need to do with tp5 and the nvram board now trying to suck the entire bin out with flash tool so I can reprogram the memcal.

I have set it to USB 808 and the correct com port hit connect and get Error executing txframe -5 the port is closed. From system.

Which is the same error I had the other day with tp5 not connecting. I have disconnected and closed tp5 to be sure it's not holding the line open.

Also just want to double check the burn offset of the memcal do I use 00000 or 0x08000

The other option can I just load the nvram into the EPROM burner suck it all out save then reprogram the memcal??

the offset will depend on the memcal type you have ? vr manual memcal shouldn't need any offset.

but yes you can remove the nvram from the realtime board and put it directly into the reader, but it will suck out 2 bins end to end, so you'd then need to use tunerpro to split it in half.

Check that the com port you have selected in the flashtool matches what is shown in the device manager - maybe its decided to allocate a different port? Try a reboot to make sure that nothing else has stolen the port.

Memcal is a vn 808 one. I had to offset it like in the PDF file to get it to run no offset was no go. Using 12p with 2bar function

Will have to look in tp5 to how to split the bin haven't had to do that.

Still not sure why I can connect with tp5 but not flash tool I also checked if the framework was 3.5 and is correct

you will not be able to use the vn 808 memcal unless you put a larger eprom on it. either that or find a VR memcal.

Damn I forgot about the size difference do you know anyone I can send the memcal to fit a socket so I can use a larger chip don't have any manual vr memcals only a bucket of vn ones

Can send it over and I can socket it for you, if you have a few can do more than one. You will need to supply the larger EPROM though. Another source is VR V6 auto or VR/VS V8 auto memcals, they are 64k and can burn 12P at offset 8000.

Could get auto memcals a lot easier then manual ones they are not common. For the time being think it would be best to socket a few vn ones. I do need to also do a 355 vr soon which has got a kalmaker board in it which needs to go so a larger EPROM on a vn v8 memcal would be the go.
What $$ do you want for socketing I have 256k chips here but no sockets

Will send you an email.

The flashtool issue, have you tried a reboot? Sounds like something has stolen the port.
