All Holden t5's are "world class"

Delcowizzid has had a few broken ones in that VB Commodore.

A lot of it probably has to do with how it's set up from the factory, beefed up bearing retaining plates preventing stuff moving about should improve survivability.

I've got a t-56 and vlad will tell you it's gets a flogging, a few mates have them and there pumping a lot more power than be through them to the point where there breaking beefed up 9" diffs and the boxes are loving it ! I'l take the weight penalty and just feed it more power, to me they are a super cheap box that handles excessive abuse and when it's finished put it in 6th and cruise home at 100kph @1700 rpm, there are no negatives to them

I didn't mean to come across as though I was bagging the t56. I think it's a great box, and as you say, Un-breakable. I just mean, for my application (racing) I would prefer a lighter box that was beefed up to handle "X" power, than a heavier box that won't break no matter what I throw at it. For a road car, I would go with a t56 any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Straight cut gear whine gets old really quick on the daily commute. :)

For the V8 guys a G-Force gearset to suit the WC T5 would hold up to a rated 600 hp. I looked into getting a G-Force gearset to fit into my V6 T5 box, but unfortunately a special input shaft needed to be made to mesh up with the V8 gear ratio sets. The V8 input has one extra tooth on the gear & 26 fine spline for the clutch, compare with the V6 input. G-Force would make me the special input shaft if I bought 25 of them as that was their lowest production run they would do. Unfortunately that was when our dollar was almost equal to the yank dollar & I didn't have a spare $6500 or 24 mates that needed a special 9310 input shaft for a T5. I ended up finding a special V6 input shaft to mesh with the OEM V8 T5 gear sets. Left over from a special order Mal Woods put in with ATC & never collected so the story went.

Ho hard is it to fit a v8 t5 to a v6? Is it just a matter of a custom clutch plate and a bell housing change or is the input shaft too long/ short?

The problem with the V6 T5 is that the case is different to the Aussie V8 T5 so you can't just swap over the bellhousing as well as the input shaft been a different length. There is one exception to this been the VR V8 T5 which uses the same casing.

Whats the advantage of the V8 T5? better ratios or supposedly stronger?

No real advantage the v8 box just has slighly higher ratios to match the torque of the v8
