My willem the zif socket used to get corroded and it would fail writes I would have to half close the zif and slide the chip side to side to clean up the contacts before locking it down. The 60 doller tl866ii is a cracker unit compared to a willem haha

That must be a common problem with the Willem unit. I have to do it all the time.

My Willem unit is 10 years plus old and terminals on it were the eprom goes into do look a bit crusty.
It took me a good 8 hours of uv light time 30 mins at a time on difrent angles etc to get it blank 2 times. It checked ok then I went to burn it and failed on the check after burn. 3rd time couple hours ago and it burnt and vertify ok

Thats what im thinking solder in eeprom that i have here
I done some searching on here is there fake tl866 but in tl866II there is no fakes.
So i can buy a tl866II of say ebay or ali express and should be real deal ?

yea should be fine with the tl866II plus, no fakes and easier unit to use too if you have fat fingers like i do trying to flip those little dip switches also does a way better range of chips

thats got a pretty good array of sockets to come with it. i think when i got mine it was $70 and only got about a quarter of those adaptors
