Re: checksum question
it asked to program eprom data so i clicked yes and now its bricked
2 ecus bricked this afternoon.
will change the chips in them tonight maybe, it would be nice to find a solution for this, i can't take the chip out and hard program it every time i want to clone a ecu

Re: checksum question
4 ecus are now socketed so bricking is easy i can just remove the flash chip and re program it

Re: checksum question
Are the bins you're writing complete dumps, with valid eeprom data in them?
Or is it something you've found online that isn't complete?
If you've clicked OK to correct sum and it's still bricked there's something wrong with the file your writing.
Post it up here so we can check.
Dont keep wasting time and ECUs trying again.
I have never bricked a single one of these ECUs. The flash tool makes it very obvious how and what to do to avoid bricking them.

Re: checksum question
Agree with pman, this flash process has been solid for years and nothing has changed. You do need to do the fix checksum as part of the write process with ose flash tool, but other than that, if your file is good it wont brick. It sounds like there is something very wrong with your setup or files.

Re: checksum question
the fix checksum option is on and those box's come up after the write process and it does not matter which checksum i choose, the calculated one or the one in the bin file

Re: checksum question
im not really bricking the ecu's anymoe because i got spare chips and i also got 4 ecu's here with sockets so i can simply just remove them and re program them in minutes
