The PCM Hammer extensions are the 3D commands listed in the VPW kernel here. The format and commands carried through to CAN also.

It sounds like you're approach is quite similar, but with a bit more in the kernel. We opted to put more of it in the app, and were trying really hard to keep the original kernel under 2K due to resource limits and some early PCMs not being able to accept a split kernel upload. That ended up being solved by creating a loader that was only 512 bytes that could implement the staged upload when the PCM didn't have it natively. In the end, it ended up only being used for P04.

Re: PCMHammer 2.0.0 Release
If I recall right, they never made a custom E38 kernel, because why bother. Even found out the P10 has the same features built in, so that kernel was "a waste of effort". I recall Antus never discovering a way to read the slave CPU, only write.
Don't stress specific units.

Re: PCMHammer 2.0.0 Release
I did build one, and did it because its needed to read, needed to checksum, and I also implemented write before learning of the OEM bootloader method needed for slave programming. This also means that PCM Hammer can re-write the boot sector, whereas the OEM method cannot. It's yet to be problem, but I am hopeful this means bin and slave can be written to any year E38, not just the 4 known groups that normal wisdom says cannot be mixed and matched. If the reason for that is security key corruption from param block moving, or boot loader differences, and not other currently unknown hardware differences, then I think PCM Hammer will be able to do something other tools cannot. https://github.com/PcmHammer/PcmHammer/ ...
