so what bits will i need to get to make this thing work? can these all be taken from a vn v6, or do i need to get v8 stuff
oxygen sensor (do i need 1 or 2, 1 wire or 3 wire)
map sensor
mat sensor
water temp sender
how do i trigger the ecu, i have a vr dissy so i can use a camiera module with that right?
i also have an optical trigger dissy, its a crane unit has 3 wires can i send this signal direct to the ecu (as its square wave?) or do i need some sort of module,and how would i do that?

the 4 wire oxygen sensors have a built in heater so they are preferred but also vn/vp looms usually have 1 or 2 wire plugs so might be just as easy to get whichever one suits the loom.
as far as what you need module wise depends:
1. reluctor dizzy = camira ignition module
2. hall effect dizzy = 304 ignition module
i guess once you know which module you need then get a loom to suit, v8 loom has all the right plugs for the ignition module to plug in, you'll probably only need to wire your dizzy to the igntion module input ..... camira module will mean either get a camira loom and add injectors, or get a vn/vp loom and modify for module wiring.

well i've heard alot of stories of the v8 modules failing, but not really any for the camira ones, not sure if that just cause theres more v8 one around or what.

yea ive heard of the v8 ones failing too, was hoping i could trigger the computor directly without a module, what sort of signal does the computor need, can i use a v6 commodore module? i assume the computor just gets a pulse when the signal is interupted or something, shouldnt the v6 one do that or does the module itself control the coilpacks too?

The modules provide spark when the car is starting, then when the computer is happy that its in sync (seeing rpm above a threshold) it signals the module that its going to take over, and the module starts passing through the spark.
The distributor methods just spark every time they are triggered, as the distributor controls which cylinder gets the spark, but the coil pack ones need to be synced to engine to fire the right pack. The vn system is harder to trigger.. this is the wheel pattern (got these photos yesterday as a picture paints a thousand words, and I had failed to turn up pics on the net).

If you have a distrubutor with a reluctor then its going to be simplest just to use the JE camira/daewoo module. It'll provide startup spark and give the ecu the correct interface. (just make sure that if it has weights or vaccume advance that you lock or remove that so that the computer can provide the timing).
Or you want coil packs you can use the VN system if you can rig up the right triggers, or the american system which is much easyer. See this thread for info on both coil pack systems:

still trying to get these bits, have maybe found a car, hopefully will hear back soon, any chance you would have a group A tune? manifold design etc looks more similar

Look under VN / B1 bins. (the B1 bin is earlyer than the DB group A bin and so is inferior but we have a B1 xdf and none for the DB)
However... you will most likely want to run ose 12p code, so you would want to transfer the ve and spark tables from the $B1 tune, using the B1 xdf files from here

If you decide to do this compare the ve and spark tables in the 12p bin with the 12p xdf and those in the B1 bin with the B1 xdf. You will see the 12p tables are larger, so you'll need to cut n paste the tables from B1 in to a spread sheet, add the 12p column headings and cut n paste the rows and columns inserting blank lines to make it fit the new sizes... then average out the cells around the blank ones to fill in the gaps, then when the table is complete cut n past it in to a 12p v8 tune.
Before you do this though note its probably not worth the hassle as even that work you'll still need to tune it anyway... so If I were you i'd keep it simple and just start with the v8 tune that is shipped with ose12p. Should get you going a lot easier.
