They are black now and come in a generic "T5 shifter" cardboard box with no instructions or anything. There is no brand name on any of it.

I reckon they have been outsourced to china simply because you can't actually buy fasteners that poor here. Even bunnings sells ones that are 10 times better.

Well it's a sad day they if they have indeed moved production off shore and it's effected the product quality.

They definitely used to be quality product. Mine came with decent quality fasteners (you can see em in the pic).

nice find!

i'll pass though as I have a heap of well seasoned engines in really good nick.

Blocks, heads and cranks with high mileage but well serviced are the best engine to build from as many of the internal stresses in the metal have relaxed from thermal and mechanical cycling. So when machining work is done the tolerances remain stable for a lottttt longer than a brand new engine, thus a much more reliable and long lasting engine results. The other obvious thing about doing it this way is the fact the engine is good and high milage means its not a lemon.

This one reason I built my VP engine from a 400k+ good running engine.

My shifter was an early product, more a very dark blue colour than black I seem to remember it is. Actually it may not have the product name on it either come to think of it. As I bought it off a seller on ebay who had had it for a long while but not used it. I remember contacting the guy at Billet Products about it as it was supplied with the gating plates slots machined the wrong direction. He sent me new replacements free of charge & threw in a new boot for shifter as well. So could not complain about that for service.

Cheers

So these finally came in, made in Oz, kept in USA and shipped back to Oz when someone here needs it and non compatible with any US car lol. makes perfect sense

I also have 2 genuine Aussie L67 thermostat housings and gaskets as the US ones are about 90º out as they are FWD

Just stocking up on vital bits that can't be bought 2nd hand in good nick and will probably be obsolete soon.

I get a heap of moisture problems each winter in the shed which everything imaginable corroding, this year and years or 10 and 11 have been the worst due to being a wet winter.

VR engine bay and all plated metals have corroded  :wall: oh well not too fused. Got plans for that car latter.

I knew of a few people way back when these were new on the market swear by them. Im getting one for the red VP before next winter and one for the S so it doesn't rust away before I get to start on it.

These are all about controlling the dew point so you don't get condensation on cold metal parts of the car, exactly the issue Im having.

I've given up on that engine/box glass case, Im aiming for the whole car now
