I played around with some old commodore desktop PC which its main board had a lot of RAM chips on it.

Googled it down to being a PC-10 commodore.

holy shit! brings back memories. Back in 1999, still in primary school is when I got one of these bad boys to play with and pull apart. Had a dot matrix printer too and programs I could type and print lol.

Back to reality for a bit.

I picked up a pair of NOS headlight glass with the actual reflective film which no other NOS set seem to have, also way way cheaper than those listed without.

These I just grabbed coz they were a good price and I can build a "genuine NOS" set of head lights using the old genuine case and new reflectors taken out of aftermarket headlights. The aftermarket lights are very good quality, 99% like the originals, the only noticeable difference is in the glass patterns and part number in the glass. Housing and reflectors are near perfect replicas.

genuine new headlights go for 400-500 a pop these days, glass usually 200-300 each. I got the pair for 200.
Also picked up a diff from the wreckers to build my new one from.

Started stripping it down this arvo.

Big day today.

Good old paint stripper and pressure cleaner

Cleaned off all the grease and oil.
Drained the oil and started dissembling. Added another function to my home made valve spring compressor, a diff flange/pinion nut undoerizer tool.
Nice and clean!
Next stop the blasters.

Anyone want a stock 3.08 center and gears?

that tool is also very handy for doing up the bolt with a new crush tube too!

Then I should label one side undoerizer and the other doerupper.

are you going to set the crush/preload for the pinion flange or get the diff joint to do it. always seen the painted ring gear ; fascinating but not sure i'm that clever

I had a look, these BTR 78 diffs have solid spacers/shims to set pinion depth and carrier offset. I don't have the tools to do it so getting those guys I used for some of the T5 stuff to install a centre and new R & P. I'm doing the rest myself though.

Going for the Kaaz center and 3.27 spicer R & P which I buying through them, so might as well get them to fit it. They will also set the clutch packs up to suit my car and application, they know the Kaaz product well so leave it to the experts.

Kaaz are great diffs. Friends years ago used to sell them en masse. Very popular unit.

yes they recommended it over any of the other high end units out there. Should allow me to have better control over the rear and ability to put power down.
