Interesting to know what made you pick the Kaaz over the truetrac?
They said trutrac typically side swap when faced with unstable surfaces. Also they are inherently sloppy with tons of backlash which can cause them to break. They said they have have several failures on the internal worm gears. 0 failures for the kaaz for like 100 bucks more and much better torque control.
Interesting, I was almost about the buy a TruTrac for my track commodore. Might have to do more research on the Kaaz

Thing is, I've heard of a few Kaaz failures too.

Not noticed any more backlash with the true trac over a stock LSD. There are cheaper copies around now too so they might be giving the real deal a bad rap?

My 4wd systems lokka was atrocious for backlash. Don't recommend! But always locked up both wheels and never broke so can't complain too much.

Ive got three cars with trutracs, no back lash, no issue with single wheel loading.

They still sell and say they are a good unit but in their experience building performance diffs the kaaz works better and no failures and can take more abuse. All failures which aren't many have been the worm pinions that do the locking action.

A kind member here PM'd me this link so I got it.

Only thing I need now is to see if my copy of win98SE still works. I downloaded nvidia drivers version 80.xx which was on their archived old driver page. Supports up to geforce 6, win 95,98 ME, 2k and XP.

I have NFS5 which requires win 95 or 98 to work. Works on vista and 7 no probs but newer DX is the issue since it has lack of legacy DX support. With 98 I will be able to run DX 9.0c which has legacy DX7 the game requires.

I've been doing some searching online and TBH I can find failures for both units. Fact is, when using parts in a performance setting nothing will last forever if abused.

I've seen pics of both failing. Only one so far of kaaz where the splines partly stripped on the side gear what looked like the axle had twisted. Seen a number of trutracs as my guys described shattered worm pinions, doesn't seem chronic more that it's the weak point when heavily abused.

After a lot of reading I wonder if it's a lubrication issue as the truetrac is a steel on steel configuration and having the oil film breakdown would lead to wear and tear where as with something like a KAAZ all you do is wear out the friction disks.

Many years ago I did see a pic of a Kaaz failure where the casing failed on the side by the bearing hub.

Searched google. Seems more common and catastrophic failure of the truetrac is the side of casing exploding followed by the said pinions. For the kaaz I've found pics of the spiders stripped and that one of the damaged spline but only a few results like that.
